So I got my car in mid september. Not one thing wrong other than the poor delivery service at the dealership. I had a reputable shop install a 2 way alarm starter on my coupe. Everything was fine for 2.5 months then when a cold snap it and it got to about -35 C my tire pressure sensor light went on in early December and it stayed constant. I drove it underground and parked it in heated parking at school and it went off that day.

I took my car in for an oil change a week later and they filled the tires up everything was fine when I left. A week later it went off again, but this time it flashes for a minute then stays on, which the manual says its malfunctioning. I took it in today and they said that the car is throwing a code for the BCM but they believe its from the start/alarm install.

Has anyone had a problem with there TPMS?? do you think think its the shops fault or the dealership??

Jebus! -35

Anyways, I think Nissan has a legitimate claim that the BCM could have been damaged. I say get the wiring diagram from the 2 way pager, and see if any wires cross the path of the TPMS. Then go from there.

ya it gets cold here. We just had a cold snap for awhile. Its better now... about -21 but everyone is use to it.

I got it booked in to get the starter alarm checked out. I'm not going to check the wiring myself since its under warranty from both places.

Either way I won't be paying for it.. just wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem.

Haha...to all you southerners, if you think it's cold here in Alberta you should check out the glorious winter temps in Manitoba...specifically Winnipeg (or as it's unofficially known up here: "Winterpeg")

TPMS is unreliable at super low temperatures. I didn't even bother putting the sensors on my winter wheels. Do what I do... ignore the little indicator light and check your tire pressures regularly, the old-fashioned way. TPMS is no substitute for manually checking your pressures anyway.

When the weather warms up, your TPMS will likely start working properly again. In the meantime, I wouldn't waste a lot of time tracking down a problem that may not even be correctable in those conditions. Just my $.02... CDN of course.

Absolutely. Thats wicked cold! Wait til it warms up to see how it behaves, I'd bet it's fine.

+1 on the temperature affecting the TPMS. I'd wait to see if gets better when it gets warmer. could the cold temps be hurting the battery in the sensor?

btw it was sunny with a high of 76 here today . I have all the windows open in my apartment and it's a nice 70 in here right now. eat it people up north.

Dude, -35C?

I don't think there's a single piece of electronic equipment that can function properly at such a low temperature.
