Symptoms of a bad alternator. Make sure the belt's not slipping and all cables are connected and tightened down properly; if those are correct, you'll need to pull the alternator and have it tested.

I agree on the alternator diagnosis. Might also be a bad battery. I'd have them both tested. Once you have a known good battery, you can check the voltage at the terminals with the car running - should be about 14V. 12V or under and the alternator is bad! Don't mess with aftermarket alternators... the labor is a real pain, and I've heard of nothing but trouble from aftermarket rebuilds!

Yes...

Assuming their equipment is working correctly, I'd have the battery tested first. You may want to charge it on a battery charger before taking it in - but in any case, they can load test it for you. I wouldn't go to the trouble (and it is a lot of trouble!) of removing the alternator before you know for sure that it's the problem. Eliminate the easy stuff first! With a good battery, the test I mentioned with a volt meter will tell you a lot.

I don't really trust 99% of the people working at AutoZone, Pep Boys, etc... for the most part they don't have a clue about cars.

Why would these people be working for 25-35% of what an automobile technican makes per hour if they were QUALIFIED.

Of course some test are easy with the proper equipment.

Battery test are easy on a Q and it is common that Q batteries last lesss than 3 years before replacement is needed.
