My first paragraph will be the story of the car. The 2nd will be about the possible fire damage. Sorry if its long i need to be very clear. Thanks in advance for your time for reading this...

OK so i bought this z32 last week. I knew it didnt run before i bought it. It was only $900. At first it was cranking but no start. Now it wont do anything. Just a single click. However i think maybe there is no gas in it cuz the gauge is all the way below empty when i turn the key almost over. It had a gas leak i tightend the clamps. they were mad loose. Check engine light is on, Battery light is on. Its got a bigger battery from a expedition in it from previous owner. The hood seems to have a leak right where the battery is. The rubber seal is missing above the battery on the top left of the hood. ( see pictures ) But yeah, she wont start and im paranoid about towing it again because the last guy cracked my front bumper. I really want it fixed and i have the money but cant figure out what is wrong with it. On top of this i checked the coolant and it seems bone dry. but the radiator and fan look brand new. (sign of over heating) might have to swap this one..

Now for the possible burnt parts. Not gonna get too much into it. i did see this before i bought the car but it was just a really good price i figured at worst i could swap it. Pictures talk more then words. Here are a few of them. what do you think? I used red arrows but im sure you guys notice it. The rest of the engine bay looks fine.

Looks more like oxidation on the aluminum than fire

I thought that too at first but how is the weather stripping gone from the hood? Its leaking rain on to the battery. :frown:

Your driverside cowl being broken isnt helping any with the water on the battery issue. I would like to know though why your using a pic of someone elses car as your sig still though.

No flame please. I just like the picture. Where exactly is the cowl? Any other information would be nice. Thanks again for your time.

However, I decided to change it back to my Z. Its updated now.

Well not sure why i said driver side earlier lol it's your passenger side but it's this piece. When people remove the battery without removing the cowl they break em. Would still need the rubber seal on the hood for that section to seal though.

I don't think its been on fire either. +1 for it just being oxidation on the aluminum.

its just rode hard and put away wet. You can use engine bright or engine cleaner but dont spray it on the motor. Spray it on a tooth brush or a small brush and scrub the aluminum with that. Then use another spray bottle with water in it and a clean rag to wipe it off. Careful not to spray the water on anything thing electrical. That should help with the oxidation. once you get it clean the best you can that way you can try some braso and polish it.

Also you should take the cowl off ad vacuum all the leafs and clean all the dirt out of the drain there. What happens is leaf and dirt gets caught in drains in doors, hatches, cowls etc then when it rains or the car gets wet instead of water draining where it should it goes other places its not supposed to go.
