What happened to this forum? Have these cars gotten so old that forum members have lost interest and sold them? Regular long term daily posters have disappeared without any notice or explanation { like q45tech, Maxnix, and many other regulars}......was the new forum format to blame, or just loss of interest in their aging q45s......seems strange that such an active group for almost a decade just dwindles down to nothing almost overnite ????

Brian has a valid reason but I am not sure about Dennis.

The forum format does have some faults like old topics not showing up properly, members email addresses were lost (unless they log in and update them), all the old 6+ Gigabytes (GB) of pictures were lost, The forum doesn't load up a couple of times each day. I like the Personal Message feature though. :)

Its sad to see them go just as I found a way to make the G50 (1990-1996) Q45 look young again, Think new (R35) GTR. I am not about to give away the secret just yet till I consult a Patent lawyer. :)

Well I hope not.. Especially now that I'm finally getting mine together.. :-)

This is a nice club with a lot of talented members..

I have engaged in conversation with four Q owners that I've seen at gas stations over the past couple months to tell them about NICO. I guess if it isn't broke -- no need to visit.

I too worry about Dennis aka Q45TECH.
I realize he had a overheat event but I'm worried more about him than his car.
He is a Vault of knowledge.

Hey vodawill I see you are in TX.

Next year I aim enter mine in at least two TX shows.

The first show for the year is in Dallas, February 18-20 -- already sent in my registration information. I have hosted other car club meets around that show in the past..

http://www.autorama.com/casi/show/dallas.php

Next is Keels and Wheels in Seabrook, April 30 - May 1.

http://www.keels-wheels.com/index.php

If I can get an Infiniti in THAT show -- I'll be doing something.. I guess I can go in as a custom. :-)

I hope by having a Q45 present at some big shows with a lot of people will spark some interest. Though I know it will take years for Infiniti to establish a footing with the clubs where having a stock version works to your advantage.

Qship you need to enable the Personal Message (PM) system on your end so you can receive them. Or just email me, the address is in the "1990-1996 Q45 Parts for sale!!!" in my signature.

I apologize that I havent been around, I have been busy working on my gf's jeep trying to get it ready for inspection. Havent had much time to give the Q or the forum some love :/

But even a year ago(and when i first purchased my G50), when I first started being active on the board, I did notice there wasnt as much action as my Z31 boards. But then again, there arent as many passionate Q45 owners as there are Z owners. Which is a shame because in my eyes, the G50 is like a 4 door Z. All of the suspension components are the same and the engine is loads better than the VG30. Even though I bought my Q to use as a donor swap for my Z31, I have grown to love it and second guess doing the swap.

Justin - Your Q looks good with those wheels for sure. Did you do some suspension upgrades or larger tires on the rear?

Hey did you send a letter though the United States Post Office (USPS) or a Email? I didn't get anything yet.

And the best way to reach Dennis is through T3 automotive I would assume. But I think Dennis too a year off NICO for a personal matter some time ago.

Thanks, in the pic its just the wheels, they are Watanabe RS-8's, 16x7 and 16x8 with ~+24 offsets. 225 and 245s. Now it has adjustable upper control arms and tension rods in the front.

I saw much more action back in the day. It seems like there are only a few of us around now with cherry cars we've owned for 10+ years....it is nice seeing people tripping over these used, but face it most of them are turds people are trying to polish. Back years ago I was on the Z31.com board and the too turned into a bunch of people with rust buckets they were buying for nearly no money and looking to just keep them running on spit and glue.

My 84' 300ZX is in cherry shape for a 26+ year old car and my 97' Q45t is much cleaner at only 13 years and 1/2 the miles........I am no the minority on both, I think this is a big part of the demise of big traffic on these boards.

Honestly I think a lot of it has to do with the switch, but usually April - October is a lot slower than November - March.. in other words, during the winter is when people are tinkering with their cars, not driving them during the nice season... We have seen a large decrease in traffic across the board on NICO (im not sure how other sites compare)...

What was it like before the switch?

To keep interest up during the good weather months, some other clubs I know organize meets around the country. The meets start small and then grow large over the years.

The annual AZ meet has grown to the point where the local police stop traffic while the vehicles convoy through town.

Bah, i haven't been very active since i joined the forum. I'm still working on a nice postup on my engine swap of last summer. I still have to go pick up the other Q if i still can. He said hes holding it for me but idk what hes doing. but i work 5am - 9pm tues-sat monday and sunday 9-5 now its hunting season so im out doing that any chance i get. even when im not hunting im always scouting for deer, fish, duck, geese, women... anything with legs that runs and can be shot at or caught with a pole. I've been driving my Q more lately illegally with an old sticker and kind of abusing it with no back brakes, e brake, no abs. the sticker thing is fine since i know alot of cops aroung here, as well as always carry some wine with me, i just dont have time for mechanical crap and it sucks, right now if it starts its getting me there. The lincoln is getting gunked up i have to clean up the carbs again. pce o crap anyone want to buy it? its for sale, Its pretty pimpin if your a young guy gettin outta that on a nice sunny day. the landcruisers gettin an engine swap so thats outta commision. Also just bought a 1993 5 speed dodge caravan. Gonna orange and black tiger stripe it(tony the tiger) this winter, I have a few projects for the Q i want to do this winter but time is very costly right now. I try to get on like 5 minutes a day just to review the site but man its tough. sleep has been an issue this year now. But ya got me for good, lovin the Q everyday.Only 3 G50's in entire western mass, atleast that i have seen. I got a design for some small wings with the Infiniti logo and a v8 logo kind of combo in the middle for the side fenders, looks pretty cool i gotta get it on the PC to post it. Took me an extra hour to get home tonite with all the floods up here in the NE, wont go through more than 6-8 inches of water. But ya, no lost interest here, NITE! :dblthumb:

I love MA, you can bribe cops still with wine and it rains like crazy in Oct....In CA we cannot bribe a cop to save our lives but today it was 75 degrees and sunny :)

I love your hunting quote, I will have to use that but I will give you the reference!

I had an african white striped one that live for so long i had to give it away. leapord catfish and some other exotics. I had a parrot named Bert, i miss him dearly. He was cool stuff. I still have a 76 gallon bow front in the attic that hasnt seen water in years. Yeah MA sucks but its still cool at the same time. I go to VT all the time. I gotta get up there now, i go "pretend" im hunting and actually scout for all the stoners pot plants and usually have some luck. Hope that doesn't come back to bit me.... I just got done repairing the front speaker in the Q it was driving me nuts buzzin. Cant sleep..... Got some goose sausage out in the smoker smellin so good the neighbors came over for some wine. Dudes! So sorry that I have not been doing my part to sabotage and ridicule. But, in the joint they didn't allow me to use the innernets. And then when I got out, there were strict rules at the halfway house as well. Then once I got out of that I immediately fell in with the wrong group of guys....dumb luck that! Any rate, I ended up on a light twin headed to Columbia...as in Bogota, not South Carolina. That's when things really got interesting!

Lemme tell you, as good as Hawaiian and Mendocino bud is, there is a whole other world out there if you know what I mean! Not too mention those cute little South American chicas! Some of them dig gringos. A guy could spend a lifetime down there! Except it would be a very short one! My liver couldn't handle any more of that!
So, the plane got loaded and so did I. Headed up the coast at 300 feet one dark and cloudy night and and alls well. Balloons are down and I have an extra 110 gallons of fuel in the cabin. Chilling with some Marley and a frosty. Then the number three jug on the left engine let go. Dumb luck that! It sucked a valve, blew the side out and tossed oil all over the turbo. So much for outa sight eh??

I hung a right and stopped at a friendly spot in Tobago. Let me tell you, Tobago is a trip in the late summer! Who needs a Q!!!!

Now parts are hard to come by in TT, but beer and bud are on every corner! And while they might not be Polynesian Princesses, the local talent down there ain't nothin to sneeze at! So, I put off the repairs for a while and waited for a new jug. The plane was carefully put away under dense canopy and friendlies kept an eye on it.

No knock sensors on that Continental!

Dinged the plane up a bit on landing. Unlit, unpaved strips in the dark can be a real challenge! But, I made it back and took the wraps of the old gal. She missed me and now has a mis at idle.

To answer the OP, hell no. I am actively trying to find a Q45 to buy!

I think the lack of activity is just because of the new forums.

I don't care if the interest has died or not, I'm actively working on my Q45 daily driver and race car that I bought for $400 and I do all the repairs fabrication and maintenance myself.

All worth it, Nobody knows what to think when they see a 1990 Q45 careening down the autocross course with 5 people inside and keeping up with Miatas, or even less likely at a Gymkhana precision driving event (I got 3rd place without an e-brake)

Thinks I have done since buying my car last year:

Replaced all fluids, hoses, radiator, crank angle sensor, spark plugs, t-stat, radiator caps, valve cover gaskets, Brakes, z32 fuel filter,
93 TCU for 1st gear start,
Fixed tail light module,
Tuned ecu (e-mance.com)
Installed Walbro 255lph fuel pump,
Successfully converted to run e-85,
Urethane tension rod bushings,
Installed 94 injectors, ;p
Installed Jim Wolf Pop-Charger
Removed stock muffler and resonators & installed dual Magnaflows,
Installed Q45a rear sway bar,
Installed Tokico struts and Espelir lowering springs,
Installed updated timing chain guides,
Converted to 5-speed manual z32 transmission (Mazworx adaptors and z32 tt chromalloy flywheel and stage-3 clutch, Custom made one-piece driveshaft),
Installed ball-bearing adjustable front upper control arms, Adjustable rear upper control arms, adjustable front tension rods,
Replaced stock cracked fan with 4,500 cfm racing fa
Racing Blue Dot-4 brake fluid and clutch fluid,
Shimmed the diff mounts,
Installed sub-frame collars,
17" G35 Rims,

Looks ugly because of the dents and dings (and the damage from the jackass who crashed into me at Walmart who refuses to pay for damages or admit fault). But its fast fun and definitely unique from all the tuner cars and race cars and just about anything you see on the road.

I think you will see a trend of these cars getting into the younger crowd who appreciate it as the sports luxury GT it is, and we will see more aftermarket products and oem parts and even solutions for hard to find replacements that are NLA.

Don't tell people it can't be done or its not true, because it can be done and it is happening. Lets give this car a jump-start keep the ball rolling and keep this awesome car community alive.

I left this forum for a while because of the Naysayers, can't do this, or thats all wrong or you're wrong that! I'm back because I don't care anymore what they say. This is my car and I can do what I want with it. If I didn't, the car would be crushed by now and used as scrap. Thats how I feel about everyone else, It's your car and you do whatever makes you happy.

I direct a grassroots racing club in a tough economy and it is thriving because we accept all types of cars and drivers. It is accessible to just about anyone with a license and a passion for racing. This is where you discover &/or remember how much fun racing can be! Race your Honda, your truck, Mustang, your miata, and Q45 against each other and have fun! No separate classes, Just tire and drive-train limits.

Bro, I think you need to make a business of Q performance enhancements. Provide enhancements for onsite installation or broker various upgrade components online. You can become like a Saleen Speedlab.
