Remember when the Q45 was Infiniti's flagship. It was the car advertised and it was the car people thought of when you mentioned Infiniti. Now people don't even realize that the Q45 still exists. When I tell people I drive Infiniti's they always say, "Oh, I love the G35 couple and that little FX, wow!." All I can say is, "It breaks my heart."

They have switched to bottom up advertising after spending over over $3,100 per Q sold it just wasn't working and surely not cost effective.

If the fatter wider higher G [the new FUGU 2005 M45/35/AWD] sells we will see an even fatter, wider , taller Q45

Hopefully the Q will be again the flagship.... The fastest, most expesnive, best handling...... I HOPE!!!

If Infiniti drops the Q, I WILL NEVER buy of them again. The Q is what started it all, and I will have my G50 forever... BEST CAR THEY HAVE CREATED.

Unfortunately, infiniti isnt even holding up to their engineering standards.....

I personally don't care because I want the resale value to be low on a used 2003-04 Q45 when I get ready to buy one in a few years.

Of course, there's the risk of Infiniti doing away with the Q altogether but I sure hope not.

Thats a good point... So far, the G50 seems to be holding value best... F50 is worse, and Y33 is up there as well...

I saw a G35 commercial today with this couple opening the door and being surprised at all the city sounds they hadn't heard before opening the door, then they just closed the door and all the sounds were gone.

I remember about 10 years ago a similar add for the Q45. I also remember an add with this guy shooting a dart gun at the Q and nothing would stick to it. (Not sure what the point of that add was but I remember it.) I remember another add where everything was quiet except him closing the car door and how solid it sounded. I think about that everytime I close my door.

1der, like most Q, the 02 looks better in person..... It turns your head every time...

Just like the 90-93, you dont really see how good they look until you see them in person, and even better when they're driving. They OWN the road!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the resale on the Q and the M takes a crap.

I fully intend to replace my current Q with a black supercharged M45 on black mesh 18" BBS's.

i'm with you greg!!!! there will be no replacing my first year, flagship Q!! especially with the current Q. it's just too, "cookie cutter" for me. if another Q, a "needle in the haystack" search for a 90-93, very hard to find something good, probably more like a 94 or 95. BUT, i'll probably be looking for a heavily deprieciated M45. i really love the look and the performance. also love the fact that there isn't a million on the road!!!! would also bend over backwards for a used G35 coupe!!!!! just my wishlist! jeff

Call me a stodgy SOB, but I just cant get used to new interiors, where all the controls are high mounted on a center pod. Its probably better for keeping your eyes on the road, but artistically it just doesnt work for me. I like the tall top-to-bottom arrangement of buttons. Makes me feel like I'm piloting an aircraft. :) I really dig the Saab interiors, where the controls are littered with tiny buttons. Feels high-tech to me.

I played tag with a black Y33 (97-98 Q45t) from St Louis to Columbia recently, and we kept passing each other the whole way from 90-120mph. Fine looking ride. :)

I'd imagine lowering it and throwing on a set of OZ wheels would really do the trick. (Like the Q in Falk's sig)

And the new Q looks great in person, even though in photos it seems too bubbly. Sorry JasonB, you've got a nice ride but I hope the resale value on 02-05 Qs drops like a rock. :)

Greg... When that time comes, Id love to be the keeper of the infamous Quella :D

I WILL NOT BE replacing my Q, NEVER! There will be something that is supplementary to my G50, but nothing will ever REPLACE IT. Nothing comes close to it...

The new Q is a nice ride.. It's all about luxury..

That's where the M comes in.. all the goodies of the Q, and the attitude of the G50..

Don't worry new Q/Ms are collapsing as we speak. I see beautiful 2002 Q45s with 20,000 miles going for under 30k on ebay.. Fully loaded, nav, sport etc.. these were over 60k new..

Same with Ms..

I want a black M, with 18 or 19 inch BBS.. nice dark tint... and the krylerian (sp) supercharger kit... Laminova intercooler cores... 450 HP on a stock exhaust/intake... Simply WICKED.

Youre a jerk for getting that crappy song stuck in my head. I'll be getting even soon, Mr. Stinson!

The M45 I test drove last year was one of the most thrilling cars I've driven yet. My biggest two gripes are the abysmal rear seat (no biggie, I usually drive alone) and the controls mounted high.

There's no doubt it has the personality of the G50, with all the goodies on top.

Many people say the reason for the Infiniti's slow start to the market was its <quote - unquote> "poor" advertising. I've heard plenty about it - even before I joined you folks here @ NICO. Thankfully some of you have provided links to the pilot commericals so I could see it for myself - and yes in most there wasn't even a glimpse of the brute. But it was enough to make me think. I like the more humble approach because it was a totally different approach to advertising and isn't the norm espicially if compared to today. I don't like to be trendy and would be hooked if Infiniti would take the same approach today - as they did back then. To me personally I do not like the new Qs (but the G35 and FX are awesome for what they are)because it doesn't even seem to call back to the older Qs. For example: BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes etc; you can pretty much tell what model and series they all originated from - but when you look at Infiniti in genereal you are like where the hell did that come from. The Q espicially has gone thorough some pretty drastic changes. Now all Infiniti's have the huge grilles and seem to have gone mainstream. I would definately save my pennies for a new Q if they would remember where it all started. Just my two cents.

Yes.

The car was completly different. If you read the introduction in the owners manual, it has the Q manifesto.

I remember reading reviews for the M45, quite a few of them would end like finally another car like the Q, or your driving an infiniti again, and it isnt a Q..

The Q is for those in the know. They went with marketing that trully reflected the car. Different in style, and content.. as was the car.. The engineers specifically left out many of the default items in luxury cars.. wood/grill etc..

Now you can have it all, but it still doesn't add up to the Q. The new Q is a nice car, all I can say when I see that new 2k5 color combination, is it's gorgeous. It's a warmer car, but it lost it's soul.

The new M45 will be the closest we come to the original Q. Carlos is going to rework the Q for 2006, I see this as possibly the final battle for the Q nameplate. Nissan/Infiniti shouldn't ignore the OG Q, because of poor sales.

it does look better, but it can't hold a candle to the M45 I'm afraid.

I've seen plenty in the Nissan Plant parking lot, hehe, I get to go there again in the morning to get the stitches taken out:D

I'd take pics but uh...it's an international trade zone...

Agreed. I have seen the 02+ Q on the road and mistaken it for other cars ...

The new Q in an ugly duckling! The ONLY thing I even liked about it was how comfortable I was sitting in it. My 92Q took it apart on the road in a head to head testing. It's been destroyed by Infiniti. It is a midsized modern K car looking waste of money. It's only saving grace is being inside it and forgetting what it looks like from the outside.
