Definitely tongue in cheek, but I will definitely be test driving one.

The nose looks like someone took the FY33 and stretched it with photoshop, but other than that not too bad looking, but it looks like that might be the lens on the camera doing some of that. In the high 300's for power. It will be interesting to see what technology and reliability on their first V8 will be like.

The new Genesis doesn't look like a bad deal. I think that Hyundai is doing a great job nowadays. When I visited the Hyundai dealership, the car that impressed me the most was the Azera. Nice looks, decent power and excellent quality. If the new Genesis can take things a step further with some performance, then I think Hyundai might have created a potential Q successor.

Overall it's pretty good.Definitely not a fan of the Banglebutt, and the LS-lookalike front end isn't going to win any beauty contests.

You can tell Hyundai still hasn't caught on to the nuances of designing higher-class cars. They can build a good copy of a Lexus, but it still retains some cues of an Accord. There's no softness to the roofline, no subtlety to be found anywhere in the car. There's a lot of compact car in that big car. The extremely short decklid and the way the C-pillar ends behind the rear wheel arch; the sharp and obvious slimming at the beltline (something that the M also does, but much more subtly and cleanly); the Ford Fivehundred lookalike uniform arch of the roofline. It all looks just a little to sterile and--maybe efficient is the word I'm looking for?--to be a luxury car. They've got all the ingredients, they just need more experience at putting them together.

Actually, come to think of it, Hyundai of today reminds me of Lexus in their early years.

Still, the car looks good. Certainly better than most new cars today. And the interior does look fantastic.

Nice looking car but no radical departure from all the others competing. In fact it seems like the designers all went to the same car design classes ? ? ?

2nd generation Acura Legend, '90-95 is still the winner IMO. Car GUYS often comment on mine.

Ah well the NEW 2000 Q45 will soon be in my car domain and will rise in my esteem I'm sure.

Remember now, this is Hyundai. Remember their cars 15 years ago? The cars they have been putting out lately are amazing and this is an example.

My only major concern in buying this car would be the maintenance.

The level that we all maintain our Q's at, even the worst of us on this board, I would guess is light years beyond what the average Hyundai owner does. Is a shop that is used to working on "disposable" cars going to be up to caring for a car that is attempting to take on flagship cars from BMW, Infiniti, Merc, Lexus, etc... I know that many people have lamented Infiniti service, but it has been better in my experience than most.

Any thought from those of you that amke a living in the industry?

Dealers have only 2 source of income and my experience is that they will do ANYTHING they are paid to do and the precision of accomplishing each task is the result of how well you tip the technican in cash in advance doing the work.

So any vehicle can be kept to extreme standards by just paying. Relying on some imaginary schedule for 100k durability is just asking for failures just after warranty JUST as with the Q45.

The real problem is modern software which allows design engineers to cut corners and management to force them to do so.

First generation Legend 1986-1990 (a very honest and functional design)

Second generation Legend 199101995 (looked like blowfish mating at first, but coupe has nice llines and GS were interesting front drivers.)

Welcome to the Yakuza Cruiser.

Blowfish mating ? ? ? I doubt that you have ever seen a blowfish much less a mating.

The L & LS Acura Legend have the same lines as the coupe only with four doors. Front drivers do have advantages that surpass RWD.

The Koreans are hard workers and fast learners. They have come a long way in car manufactoring as in other aspects of their economy. All while taking Kimchee breaks

I have, but not mating.

To my eye, the second genreation coupe had much different lines from the sedan even though the wheelbase was almost identical. Only advantage of FWD over RWD that I can think of is more efficient utilization of interior space. as there is no drive shaft. I can think of many disadvantages. Once you can hop between the two you will seQ45 e. The real deal breaker for me is the 2.7L V6 Legend only betters the 4.5L V8 by 1-2 miles a gallon, although it does burn cheaper regular grade. The ease of performance is solidly in the V8 camp.

I will say that the Hyundai Azzerra(sp?) that we rented for about a week last summer was impressive! The interior was well crafted aside from annoying buzz from the glove compartment. I would certainly look at one, but it would be hard for me to buy one without much of a track record.

Who knows... maybe Korean cars will challenge the Japanese auto makers to innovate faster, just like the Japanese did to the big three in the 70s!

I remember when Hyundai's were like lighters.

It runs out of fuel, you just chuck it and get another one.

This thing if freakin nice!

Hmmm Yo tengo motor 3.2 litros en mi carro. '95 Legend L

Push or pull? Depends on your societal view weather you like some "PULL" or you are a "PUSHER" type?

Actually pull types are way more effective in wet slippery situations as in SNOW and ICE. I have operated both types in such conditions and the rear drive VW Beetle "the best car there was" and the front drive preformed best. Never mind "pulling" yourself around turns and corners without losing the ***-end, and, of course, I haven't proven that. Paw Paw driver.

No real space savings though in the Legend. The trans takes up the same space as RWD's and the tunnel provides space for the exhaust.

I've had a feeling this was coming. Hyundai has been making some eye-catching knockoffs lately. I can't recall which one it was, but I think it was the Azera. I pulled along side of one and stared at it. Then I saw the Hyundai badge and proceeded to vomit a little in my mouth.

Not a fan of Hyundai or KIA. I'm sure you guys have seen the KIA that's a blatant Jaguar forgery.

I think Honda should get in on the V8 market. The new Accord is fantastic. Imagine what they could do with a V8.

There are no V8 Acura sedans are there?

True.

But then again, Q's wouldn't be a symbol of the elite. Nothing makes me happier than seeing another G50 on the street.

That's signature line worthy... would it be in bad taste to quote yourself in your signature since I don't do that in mine?

Quote »The new Accord is fantastic. Imagine what they could do with a V8.[/quote]I have wondered this for years. I doubt this is the time to introduce one with all of the "green marketing" being thrust on us now.

Anything for you Heath.

I don't see Cadillac pushing "green" vehicles. Oh well.

I'd love to add an Accord to my stable. It might be one of my favorite FWD cars to drive ever.

Hybrid Escalade is coming. I'd call it turquoise instead of green.

Booo.

That defeated my whole point.

My sentiment stays the same though. We need to forget about the "green" vehicles, and focus on finding clean renewable energy to stop global warming. Let's go hydrogen/nuclear. That way, the amount of fossil fuels being burned by V8 luxury boats will be neglible.
