Kind of makes you think dont it? I mean as soon as you flip the switsch you unleash the power but when its not engaged your like in stealth mode. At least thats what I thought the first time I saw it.

Oh, and i dont know what that one cost, but they are like $20 on ebay, or your local custom muffler shop can make one for under 50$.

High HP mussle cars have been using this type of high flow devce for a long time.I know a guy who has a Grand National that has one the he has to get out and lay under the car to open it up.He would most likely love one that had a switch.

Yeah, i've only seen them on musclecar/truck. Doesnt the length of the exhaust pipe have something to do with torque?

we just told you that they have been used for years by High hp cars...and now you say its a waste of money? i think you should rethink what you say before typing it on a message board.

If you race on the track or even on the street, its a worthwhile investment, you dont lose anything from it, but you do gain hp when you dump the exhaust without going through the whole exhaust pipe.

everyone's a hater huh..sigh

When the QTEC is engaged what does it do to keeps the exhaust gasses from countinuing its path through the pipping? What forces the gasses through the openning inn the Y pipe?

Just curious

But hey it does sound like a good investment specially here in California, Now that there is a law against modifying the sound of your exhaust over 97 decibels I think.

On the streets you can have your exhaust running stock and on the race tracks open it up for some fun.

im not sure i understand your question, and agian, i didnt look at the specific link, but its a Y pipe basically, and has a 'stopper' inside, like on a hinge, ya know? and when its open, the gas would go straight throught the pipe, and when you 'close' it it would dispell the gases right out the other side of the Y before the exhuast pipe.

Your exaust gasses will follow the path of least resistance and since there is an open hoie created by that system, the valve that H8 mentioned, it will run out the hole insead of continuing down your exaust system.

They just did an install on a GMC truck on TNN last weekend I think, it is a cool mod, they ran it out strait pipes comming out the side of the truck and aimed it right at adjacent traffic. Mean.

I have never seen it done on an import but that doesn't mean anything to me. I would consider this if you live somewhere where exaust noise is a legal issue. It is relatively cheap. I would question where you put it though, since you put it in front of the cat, (if you have one) this would or could be considered "tampering with the emmisions system" of your car. Wich is I think, illegal in many states. Just something to think about.

I think it is a good idea and when I eventually get my engine in, I will probably consider it.

Illegal? So will emissions find out about it? I live in an area without emissions testing, but may one day require emissions testing. Is it something that is easily detectible or does someone have to really look for it?

I'm pretty sure it is easily detectble it just sticks out your exhaust sytem from what I have seen so unless the guy will pretend he didn't see it I dont think you should try to pass emissions testings with it on.

Wait but I dont think emission testers even look under your car so maybe it will pass.

A couple of my friends have that on their cars, 98 Camaro SS, and 00 Trans-Am WS-6. On their cars it sounds sooooo bad as$, but kills mpg, but theyre gas guzzlers anyways. I think it would be interesting to see on a 240 or any import for that fact, Ive only seen em on American cars.

Kills mpg... cutouts dont hurt mpg, drivers do.

Also there is nothing wrong with cutouts. They have been used for years on V8s. I see nothing wrong with using them for a 240SX at the strip.
