Cisco Network Magic Pro?

I got a 180 day trial from Comcast. It's suppose to be oh so great, but my network is just fine, I think...

What does it do for me, and what is the advantage?

If you are happy with your home network and can figure out most things on your own, you don't need it.

It's just another "solution" for the computer illiterate on how to make a home network and have file sharing, printers, etc...

Unless there is something lacking in your network right now, I don't recommend adding in more 3rd party crap to try and run your stuff for you.

Everything workls fine, except that I have to walk over to the printer and plug it into whatever device I want to print from. Aside of that all is good.

You might want to consider a wireless print server then - it hooks your printer up to a wireless channel and turns it into a network printer, allowing you to print from any computer on the network - all you have to do is install drivers.

after a quick search, doesnt look like you'd benefit from it very much.

if you know how to share a folder, add a network printer, and connect devices to your wireless signal, it looks like your all set.

looks like it actually may overcomplicate your situation if you already have your network basically working the way you want.

and some printers can actually be plugged directly into routers to be used as network printers, check it out, it may be even easier than you think.

My router did work as a print server for the network. It was fine until I upgraded the firmware. Then it sucked. The driver to make it print from any PC, BSOD'd the wife's PC, and never worked well on either of mine. I said Eff it and gave up. So now I walk in and plug up to print. Aside of that all works like I want it to.

Why don't you rollback the firmware then?

Because the drivers for the old firmware's "Share Port" are no longer hosted, and i didn't care enough to search for them.

I might see if there is a new firmware for the router and set of drivers for their "Share Port" utility.
