ok I dont have a crossmember or motor mounts for my swap , and im being a bit impatient at the moment , last night i finished pulling the ka out , so i started doing some brainstorming , im trying to figure out measurements to make my own custom mounts, i measured the combined lengths of motor and transmission on the ka and rb , i figured out that there is a 4 inch differnce in the two . now I was thinking if i make an extension bracket out of 1/4 or 1/2 steel and welded each rb mount to the ka crossmember directly 4 inches forward from the stock ka locations that would give me the clearance needed away from the firewall, im not sure about the height , has anyone tried this or anyone figured out the exact measurements needed, im just looking at other options , i keep on calling mckinney motorsports and there mounts are not ready and tophat wont respond to my emails and they dont have a number to call and to top it off i cant find a crossmember , i have everything else needed to complete the swap , and i want to complete it this weekend while im off work

well if you trust your self and know what your doing go for it, but for me most of the time patience all ways pays off, Cause you don't want you engine falling out while on the high way... Right???

Good luck with the swap

ya, remember the engine is torquing against those mounts constantly, if it breaks youre in a world of trouble.

Go for it though, and lemme see what you come up with out of curiousity. It really shouldnt be that hard if you can weld some.

You need to figure the difference between the KA trans and motor mounts and the RB trans and motor mounts. total length doesnt mean crap, its all about shere the brackets sit.

I have it. Don't do it. I have 1/4 inch and it will bend over time. I would try to find a crossmember.

BTW. I need a rb20det crossmember! Please pm me or e-mail me[email protected]
