Just cause its a good car doesn't mean that the driver knows how to use it...

5.0? Those things are slow unless they are built...at least from my experience lol. I raced em all the time in my 240 and never lost against one. I went to the track last weekend (didnt race my V or anythin) but I did see someone race in a V...17.4 at the 1/4. Once I saw him I was looking at it....bone stock, nothing done to it, and it was the automatic. And anyone can race their car, its how you race it...just like what Great White Versa said.

If it was a "fox" bodystyle mustang 5.0 (1987-1992), then they have TERRIBLE traction, which has a negative affect on their drag strip performance.

A very close friend of mine used to fix these up. The first thing he would do is put about $3k into the suspension in the rear end so that he could get it to hook up (new springs, stabilizer bar, new wheels, tires, etc). He could usually smoke almost anyone at that point without even modifiying the engine.

Ford definately designed a great drivetrain, but the car that they built around it didn't do it any justice.
