As the title says. Just wondering if this is possible. I really don't want nor need ICC. Would love to have regular cruise, but either way not really interested in trying to repair the ICC.

TIA,

That's not practical, you'd need to change half the programming in the car. However, on most ICC-equipped models you can change to regular CC by holding down the "on" button.

The Q45 owners manual for 02 says with cruise control off, to hold down the on/off button for more than 1.5 seconds and cruise control will start in standard mode. The intelligent indicators ( distance) on the dash turn off, and the only thing lit is a small light that says "cruise".

The QX4 owners manual does not discuss an option to start the system in standard cruise mode. You can try it, but it may not work.

There is a sticky thread above on solving Adaptive Cruise issues. Pretty long, but the short version is that your cruise system has an internal diagnostic it will run. If the code comes up for a possible bad radar sensor, that is almost certainly the problem, altho you may also see a code for wiring. Towards the end of the thread we figured out a sensor from a mid 00's FX35 would work on the QX4. Those can be had pretty cheap - 40 to 80 bucks I think. Used QX4 sensors at the time were hard to find and several hundred dollars.
The thread is pretty long since we had to figure things out as we went. There are no guides on sensor interchange, so we had to work through that. But repairs are not that difficult - most likely you will just need to replace the radar sensor.

Don't recall the specifics, but the wiring in the intelligent cruise system is much more complex and involves different wiring harnesses, connectors, and parts. Can't be swapped out.
