I've read conflicting stories that the the 300N/A transmission are the same as the J30. I have 93 J30T and need a transmission. I broke hard parts in the transmission and its basically not rebuildable. I've been considering the 300Z n/a transmission but need to know is it just the electronics (sensors, Nuetral Position Switch, and Valve body) are different, the transmission is still the same though? Is this correct?

these guys are talkin bout the trannys. they did the TT swap though but all in all u can prob use the info in the last part of this thread. is ur signature saying u got 400+ hp. cause even the 300 N/A may not handle that. thats covered in the thread tho so read uphttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zer...age=3later...

The numbers in my sig are from my 95 240 KA-T. I soon should be blowing those numbers out of the water though with my new setup. Should be exciting. So the Z transmission won't work with the J30 engine??

Im having some trans issues as well. If they arent resolved wuickly I will bein the same situation, looking for a trans. I believe that they are interchangeable. elWesso had posted in one of my threads that they were IIRC.

I would like to confirm this and also what it takes to make the transmission work. Are their any valve body changes and/or sensors that need to be swaped. Does the Z transmission shift a little crisper than the J30 transmission?

well, since the j and z run the same motor, I'd figure the transmission has the same pattern as the auto bell housing.

best bet is to talk to the guys that have done the tt swap. If someone did a write up on parts/how to on doing a transmission swap, it would be very beneficial to the j30 crowd!!!!

I'm guessing

transmission mountdriveshaft

are different.

Great news guys!!! I did some more searching around and mad a few discoveries. The J30 transmission Part number(RE4R01A) is the same as the 300ZX N/A & 89-97 240sx. You can do a search on ebaymotors.com for that part number. You will notice many vehicles (including the Mazda 929) that share that same transmission. This is great for the J30 users.

Enjoy! Please give any feed back you may see. These are the results from my research.

the 300zx (non turbo) transmission should be an exact fit without problems, the only thing that i would be worried about is the output shaft size that connects the driveshaft to the transmission....

I bet theyre the same. *I think theyd only be different from RE4R01A to RE4R03A

I just got through installing me newly rebuilt transmission from internals of a pathfinder. Transmission shifts smooth and zero problems. I ran into a local her in Dallas that has 5 complete rebuild kits for $400. This is for everything except the case & torque converter. I bought one of there kits which is what I'm running now.

Complete internal components for the Nissan RE4R01A from pump to output shaft. Complete valve body with solenoid pack included. Now the parts are sold as is because they were factory tested but they are new. If any of you have tried sourcing all the hard parts for our trannies then you know the price is Insanely HIGHER!!!!! Not advertising because they are even my parts but if anyone wants one of these kits let me know. I have a shop and get a shop discount. This supplier doesn't deal with the public but the sales man mentioned the deal to me so I tried it and paid off big.

The JATCO/Nissan reman facility in Tennessee does tremendous work and may be a reasonable alternative if you can find a Nissan dealer who will negotiate === sell to a local shop at 30% off with core.....................$1600 with a new valve body and torque convertor.

As an independent we use nothing else and they last on J/Q.
