I did a search and came back with nothing. When wiring an SAFC, will soldering the wires cause any problems? I know the SAFC is sensitive to voltage on the ground connection and MAF wires, so does soldering cause any unwanted resistance in those wires? I'm not a big fan of the crimp connectors that come with most car electronics and would feel better if I can solder everything.thanks

if anything the soldering will provide less resistance than a crimped connection... i solder everything (electrical based) i put on the car for the most part. never had a problem because i soldered something. have had problems with crappy crimped connections.

soldering is the best way to go on any electrical connection. a few people i have talked to had problems with their un-soldered safc wires coming loose and making the car run very bad.

awesome, just what I needed to know. Everythig I have wired into my car i have soldered too, I just was a little weary about doing it to the safcII. thanks man, time to get this thing installed!

I'm no engineer, but I rewire helo's alot. Splicing is the worst type of connection.

My favorite method for ease of work is to slide on a piece of heat shrink, then twist the wires together, then solder the two at the twist. Makes for a perfect connection. The slide over the shrink wrap and roll.

Here's a tip, needed or not, make the connections staggered, not all in the same spot. SO the wires are easier to lie back down and wrap up.

those connector are big NO NO . most of the shop used it for the aftermarket alarm, and the alarm sometime goes off and sometime don't.... it's same as the SAFC, u want a solid connection.

but i have a question , I had problem with the RPM odmeter , it is not as stable as before, after I wired it to my e-manage, and my friend had a same problem in his protege with a safc, should I just get a diode between the connection?

remember to unbolt the ECU harness first! lol i tried doing it without it and it was a B*****. but yes soldering is the best way because without a clear connection it wont work. i used these biting connectors (whatever their called) and i connected it but it did not work. and i went crazy becasue everything was looking like a mess ( ask structure how i paniced ) but solder is the best way to go, nice and neat

I do exactly what you do WD. Before you actually solder the connection, make sure you have a good mechanical connection. Twist them really good together so the solder just kinda holds the wires together. Heat shrink>>>>electrial tape. And if you are going to buy solder, make sure you get rosin core solder or it will not work. For larger wire, use a small torch.
