Some guy from Texas is selling an "authentic" snowball from the first TX snowfall in over a hundred years on ebay. What's sad is that 80,000 people have viewed the auction, there have been 66 bids, and some jackass is willing to pay $21,000 for it. I wonder if it's all a joke or something...

There's the link.

But if you look at the bid history, apparently fully accredited E-bayers have bid on the same snowball...

I'm sure it is a joke, but still...if it's through ebay I don't understand how they do it...is the seller going to bite Ebay's seller's fee just for a good laugh? Does that mean he has friends and/or other accounts bidding on it?

I actually heard about this snowball on ebay from local news stations...

That is because of proxy bidding. If you set a maximum bid of such and such, when someone bids, and it is lower than your max, it ups your bid. That's why that happens.

I wonder how hes going to pay for the fee on that auction lol.

For something that high price do they have a set fee or do they still charge percentage (sux for him)?

5.25% of the initial $25.00 ($1.31), plus 2.75% of the initial $25.00 - $1,000.00 ($26.81), plus 1.50% of the remaining closing value balance ($1,000.01 - closing value)

soooo. If it closes at $55,000,000. He will owe $825,013.12 in final fees. But thats if my math is correct. Still if no one buys it, and he has to pay that final fee. That would be one expensive joke.
