i have a 2009 white versa, in the past few months ive noticed the paint has what i would describe as a "Haze" to it. I wax the car twice a year, and even after the first time i noticed it i put a coat of wax on the hood then once buffed off, it looked awful/blotchy and like the wax never buffed off evenly ? There is still plenty of gloss to it but when you look at the right angle its like it has a deep haze look to it ? Just wanted to see if anybody else was noticing anything like this and any tips at what to do. Plan on keeping this car forever so i want the paint to look decent 20 years from now.....lol :)

Nissan uses some terrible clear coat. Mine is black, wax it twice a year, even use ultimate compound's, scratch X, etc, and it looks really good, gloss shine, deep color, but in the sunlight it just dosen't look the same as it did with no sunlight, and looks terrible. Still see scratches.

Never waxed.

Paint looks good a new after some careful power or nature washing.

Paint Hazing or Blush can be caused by polishing the car when the surface is too hot, it can be caused when the car is sprayed, the spray picking up moisture in the air and shows up later when the car is left in the sun. It can be caused because the primer was not perfectly smooth and although the final coats have a glass like finish the undercoats have that blush. Factory spray bays take great care to maintain the ideal spray conditions but it is not foolproof. If I have a tip it is never ever wax a hot car, even washing a hot car with car wash wax can damage the paint in some conditions. Fortunately car paint is pretty tough stuff but it still can be damaged.

I use Meguires quick mist detailer spray. Easy on, easy off and takes just minutes. Shines great after four years.

It is all down to the quality of the original paint job, I have a black TIIDA and don't have a problem as will many thousands of others. I have a friend who used to be a supervisor in the paint shop of a top of the line feline car manufacturer and he was remarking even with the best plant and paint and strict working (QC) conditions things can go wrong and often hard to detect. So small it may never be noticed untill there is a customer complaint.
