Has anyone here really found the top speed on their TT?

I sorta tried a few months back when a pair of V8s tried to engage me, backed off at rev limiter in 4th (7300rpm) reading 240kph (around 150mph I think), but never kept on in 5th - I had put distance on the V8s, and pulled back. Also, the road wasn't a perfect surface, reasonably straight but with some sweeping 5% corners and was public - not closed (my bad )

I've heard 170mph is achievable in manual geared JDM TTs- anyone been anywhere near it? The revs allow for it, and I think she has the power to push close to redline in top.

Incidentally, it was a full minute before the 5.7s (HSVs by GM Australia)caught & passed me, and I had slowed to 160kph (100mph) by then!

Holy $h!t! Thats 320kph. Biggest I have ever seen, and not verified, was 270kph (170mph) in my 6.0litre Walkinshaw Jag, back in 93. Balls have shrivelled since then tho, lol.

I alway new the Z was quicker than the Jag, tho - the first day I got her I had wheelspin at highway speed during a quick downshift to 3rd at 60mph.Lethal in the rain. Gotta get better rubber - running Federal 255 wets atm. (NZ is a wet country)

I have heard that with the gearing of the TT, the max speed they can reach is close to 210mph. But of course, you have to have the power to get there.

Stock tire size with a fuel cut at 7,300 rpm would give you a gear limited top speed of 193 mph. To break 200 you'll need larger tires or a higher rev limit... or you can swap in an early Q45 R200 for a gear limited top speed of 201 w/ stock tires and rev limit.

Lets say you put on some 315-30-18's w/ the Q45 differential and an 8,000 rpm redline... that would put you at a limit of 228 mph... with enough power.

No, not really. If you think im wrong check this video out as proof:http://video.google.com/videop...dex=0Very long video but very nice.Air resistance is a huge enemy of top speed. For that kind of speed you should take the car into professionals at a wind tunnell.

These guys might be able to help you out with getting the top speed of going so fast you go back in time. Just a thought.

Yeah, I should have added that. I've seen quite a few cars flip from aerodynamic mishaps when going fast.

130 is just barely out of 3rd gear - 3rd to 4th in my TT happens at 115mph, 4th redline around 145, then there's 5th. Is it hard to hit 130? Scarily easy, I'm afraid. At 130 with the pedal down, you are still pinned to the seat from acceleration. Thats why I backed off at 150 - who knows where this might end, and I want new bushes and bigger brakes before I go back there! Your bros new 'vette is a respectable match for a hardworked TT, not many cars keep up. And remember, it's a 20yr old design we all pilot here.

The Rusty Mistress sounds like a phenomenal machine! I do love the 240Z, and they can be made to really boogie, as yours proves. Dunno why my TT is so quick - the stage 3 work is normal for most owners, although JDM and good gas helps. 130mph comes up in very little time, almost hits it on the 1/4 mile, the end of a good long freeway onramp can see that. I will do a 0-100 time shortly & see. I know that my 0-62 time (100kph) is 4.9secs. Her brakes are giving me grief ATM, so I gotta deal with that pronto, before any speed test.

the last time the rusty mistress was on the quarter I had to feather the throttle to keep from completely roasting the clutch, shoudl have been low 12's, I think turned up the boost, shoudl run mid to high 11's, and I'll be building a new bottom end this winter, next year I hope to get a high 10 or at least low 11 before being asked to leave the dragstirp with the deathtrap that it is

In Estonia 300ZX TT with nitro won Speedest Race this year.

1km distance end speed 268kmh = 0,62 miles with end speed 167mph

The 300ZX also holds the E/BMS land speed record of 419.84 km/h (260.87 mph) from the 1991 Bonneville Speed Trial

This isn't going to be very scientific as I wasn't really prepared for a top speed road test - it was more of a 'for the hell of it' kind of thing.... so bear with me. I do not have an answer for the actual top speed capable when you factor in wind resistance, but I can tell you that it is possible to hit 170mph with just bolt-ons. I had my car for only a few months when one of the piston rings gave out and I lost compression in one of my cylinders, this caused the car to lose power and occasionally go into 'limp mode'. I sent it to a small town ASE mechanic who actually did more damage than good... after seeing my baby sit out in the rain for a couple weeks with rags stuffed in the cylinders I couldn't take it any more and I sent it to Nissan of Brunswick, GA to be repaired. The engine rebuild was going to run me a lot of money, so I opted to buy a front clip from a JDM 300zxtt instead. The motor only had about 50k miles on it, passed all tests, and was given a limited warranty. I had the dealership also replace the turbos at the same time and add HKS fuel injectors, 550cc if I remember correctly. I also had them send it to a body shop to touch up the paint and clear coat. My car already had the Stillen body kit, dual exhaust, dual intake, upgraded intercoolers, and upgraded suspension/wheels when I bought it. Next, I had them install an HKS digital boost controller, and tune the car at 21lbs. When I got the call to finally pick up my car I was STOKED! I hit the interstate doing normal speeds, occasionally punching the throttle. I was amazed at how much pull it had on the highway when I was already going 70mph. I decided to hit the gas and see what it could do. At 130 I considered easing off the throttle, but I was reckless and the adrenaline was pumping. I kept my foot to the floor and watched as my needle crept steadily towards 170. About this time the car started to get very light in the front end and I was starting to feel scared instead of elated. I let off the throttle at 170, but I still had another 1500ish rpm to go if I remember correctly. Needless to say, I was shocked and impressed! I made a 36mile trip (minus a few miles I had already driven on the interstate before punching it) in just over 11minutes, from Brunswick, Georgia to Kingsland Georgia where I was stationed in the Navy.
Also notable, I burned nearly half a tank of fuel on that 36 mile trip HAHA! This was all done on 93 octane, no meth injection, nothing other than what I previously stated.

Sorry to dig up an old thread. My friends at work didn't believe my story so I needed some proof of this car's insane potential. This was the first article to pull up in google search and didn't seem to really have any clear answers. I know this isn't exactly a scientific answer, but 170 with bolt-ons is acheiveable, however you may not like the ride.
