I've heard of increasing the line pressure or something like that, where it shifts harder/faster...? Id rather not mess with that IMO. It doesnt sound like it's good for it to me. There is something else you can get for it but i forgot the name, im sure someone else will chime in.

I believe it was an upgraded 'valve body' that you could get for a transmission. At least I vaguely remember that being a 'mod' when I was into modding 4th generation Nissan Maxima's.

Funny you say that because years ago when I had my Maxima, my friend's mechanic who strictly worked on Eclipses and Talons wanted to work on my car. He wanted me to keep it automatic and give the car it's power through the transmission. He was talking about getting it to 275-300 WHP. That's probably part of what he wanted to do.

So a few months back I was talking to a friend of mine who has an Eclipse as well and I was telling him about that set-up my friends mechanic had mentioned to me years ago. So I asked my friend if I should do that with this car and he responded with, "Bro, it's 2015. That's old news. Today you can get your transmission tuned through a computer". Bold statement.

Upgrading transmission's is something that isn't discussed much and that may be a simple and big key to horsepower/torque for our cars.

Correct, Transgo shift kit. P/N: TRG-RE5R05A-HD2
You also NEED to add a trans cooler:

And a few more pictures of the valve body seperated:

I also have UpRev but the Transgo kit helps with transmission longevity due to increasing the diameter of some of the fluid passages (UpRev can just increase the line pressure - the TG kit also increases the VOLUME of fluid).

What kind of horsepower/torque do you get from these kits?

Zero. Doesn't work that way. Only the engine makes hp/torque. The trans and rear end multiply the torque (and therefore hp which is a calculated value from torque). The kits firm up the shifts and also engage the bands faster which decreases the time it takes to get to XXX MPH. The only things that can increase torque is to change the GEARING in the transmission and/or rear end (shorter gear - higher numerical value).

See that's what I thought. So, it goes back to my initial question:

Does Uprev tune trannys? My friend was telling me that the way they would tune it is by making the car faster 1st, 2nd, 3rd and slow it down on top end. Maybe it's not possible. I don't know, that's why I'm asking around.

Yes UpRev can lightly tune transmissions in our cars by changing the line pressures to make quicker shifts and you can also change your engine RPM governor and a couple other parameters to somewhat change the auto shift points

Good to know. I'll bring that up to them when I do decide to get my car tuned.

Transgo kit is still a better option IMO if you want quicker and more deliberate shifting in the car.

How much does it typically cost to get that installed?
