If so how much did the place charge you and who did it?The rims i have now are 7"or 7.5" don't quite remember. And i want them to be wider to put some REAL MEAT on the back. the fronts can stay the size they are just looking to get the rears widened to about 9 - 9.5.

or how wide would the rim have to be to run a 285-305?

And i'm not gettin new wheels

Aside form widening true 3 pieces wheels, I don't think anyone does this anymore. It was done back in the Hot Rod days, but given today's (better) understanding of the difficulty of doing this correctly and the significant number of wider wheels, bolt patterns, offsets, etc it's rarely (if ever) done anymore.

If you're "really" want to do this, look for a shop that does real old school Hot Rod work. They should know someone that is willing to widen wheels.

You just need to find the right "barrels" to use. Hit the VW guys (wvvortex), someone over there will have what you're looking for, or now a source. It'll probably cost you as much as replacing the wheels.
