Has anyone had any problems with TPMS?

My TPMS light came on and flashed for a while, then stayed on yesterday. It does the same at every start up now. I haven't actually checked the tire pressure myself yet but all of the tires seem to just fine from looking at them. It has been about 24 hours and 100 + miles since it came on, and no signs of evena little bit of deflation.

It seems to be a fairly common issue.

That is FUNNY!!! The real question is, has anyone NOT had this problem!!!! Mine did this on the second day I had it. Dealer reset it. It came on again just shy of 3000 miles and stayed on. I pumped the tires up to 40psi and then let them back down to 33psi one at a time and still no luck. BTW, this is a trick some have used, it didn't work for me. When I took the V in for its first oil change, they checked it out. Both the left rear and right rear sensors were bad. After they diagnosed it, 10 minutes later, they had them replaced. Get your dealer to check it out.

I have not had the problem. Mine is working as it should.

Yesterday I started off to work in the dark. My light came on and it turned out I had a tire going flat. Filled it up and drove again. It took about 1/4 mile of driving before going off.

Glad to hear that it actually works as it should. I am afraid though that this is going to be like the boy that cried wolf, after so much false alarm, you will ignore it.

It seems like some people still don't understand that this problem can be one of two things. Either the TPMS light comes on because one of your tires is low, or the system itself actually malfunctions (in which case the light blinks for a minute and then stays on). If the light just comes on...then one or more of your tires is probably low. If the light FLASHES for 1 minute, then stays on (and repeats this each time you crank your car) then your TPMS system has malfunctioned (for whatever reason...the delaer sure as hell didn't know) and needs to be reset. The manual states this clearly, but for some reason people are still getting it confused. I tried to explain this to the dealer and he was like, "just check your tire pressures"...which of course he proceeded to do and they were all perfect. Then he reset the system (like the manual says) and everything was fine.

Something like that. I had mine reset at about 4000 miles because it was in "malfunction" mode.

It came back on at 5200 miles in "malfunction" mode again.

I've just ignored it since then. Not worth my time to take it in to the dealer to have them reset it and have it fail again. I'm waiting for a TSB or recall, or someone to figure out how to disable it without affecting any other part of the car.

Just Wanted to say thanks for all the nice folks for posting, the pressure up to 40 seems to have worked, just did it, will bring it back to 35 and hope it stays out. Much better fix than having to go back to the dealer. Anyways thanks to you all again!!

Hello, sorry for bringing to life a dead post. I just didn't want to open a new post.

I just joined the TPMS club this afternoon. Damn thing started to flash and stay on everytime I started my car. Good news is that Solon Nissan had this think out of there in just under an hour. They said that they had a little trouble getting it to shut off and that it will be done soon, I just didn't care how they reset it as long as it was off.

I have just today joined the Malfunctioning TPMS club.

Each time I start my car my TPMS light blinks (for about 1 minute) and then stays on during the rest of the drive. Changing/checking tire pressure didn't help me.

I HATE stairing at this constant-on light (after it finishes blinking). I'll be heading to the dealer as soon as possible.

I'm still light free. I just narrowly missied it I think last week when the temps dropped to under 10F in the morning after being 70F in the afternoon the previous week. I topped them off the night before to avoid seeing the evil light. Then again, maybe my dealer disabled my system before I took delivery.

Sorry to say it....but welcome to the TPMS Club.

I posted this elsewhere as another means to vent about your issue:

"I've filed a complaint with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration over this. I really don't think it will help, but maybe if we all did, then Nissan would get on the stick. Safety equipment that doesn't work just doesn't promote safety.

If you would like to file a complaint with the NHTSA, then go here:http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ "

There are 6 TPMS Reports right now....the more the merrier.

I have an appointment tomorrow at my dealership to look at it for the second time. This will be the first time since the release of the TSB, so hopefully they will follow whatever needs to be done in that bulletin and hopefully it will be permanently fixed.

My bad. I should have noted my current mileage. My odometer is now just over 4300 miles.

It seems to me that it isn't a matter of "if" you will experience this problem, but rather "when". On our first cold-snap here in Florida I drove off through the neighborhood to soon notice a solid TPMS light. I drove back to the house and checked all four tires. I found a couple tires lower than the other two so I topped all four off to equal readings (about 32-33psi).

Leaving the house the second time, now with the light still on, it took about a half mile before the light extinguished. The system was aparently satisfied with the new tire pressures. This is an example of how the system should work. I was content.

This (now) blinking scenerio is what others have already experienced and have tried to have their dealers address with varied success. I will let everyone know what gets done to mine, hopefully on Thursday (12-14-06).

If our forum group represents a decent sample of Versa owners, then Nissan must have a sense there is something amiss. I wonder if any of the other Nissan vehicles equipped with TPMS are having problems like us? TPMS seems like a pretty wide-spread feature accross the product line.

Be it sensors or firmware, there should be some comonality throughout so I am hoping that we get a solid "fix" soon.
