not unfamilar with letters like that. but the thing that sucks is that they seize it then auction it off for export only and people will go there and buy your car. I saw one of my seized cars that was re brought to the US. While i was at a show last week it was seized in 2005 and brought in agian the owner in california who bought it from customs the first time now it is a drift car and his daily. Bought the thing from bishop bros manheim auto auctions

I think the letter is fake. Looks like it was done using Mircrosoft Publisher. I would call the number using a pay phone and see who and how they anserw the call. i would google the name also. I would not give any information till you know it's a official letter.

Oh it's real, I know the guy who got that letter as well as the most of the others.

There's not really any news to the situation but it's being handled.

There are still a handful of Kaizo owners out there that have not been contacted by ICE or the DOJ. Super-under-the-radar guys

I dont get why you can't just move the vins from a clean titled 240 onto a skyline chassis

Anywhere but california, these cops don't check vins unless car is stolen

If your name is on title of 240, all in the clear

Why can't i do that?

probably because the registration will say Nissan 240sx while the car has Skyline badges. Even if you removed all the badges, i'm pretty sure that most cops have enough experience to tell the difference between several cars. the 240 is not a rare car.

Man you're in california, of course they know what a skyline/240 is

You get out here in the southeast, and midwest, and a lot of hick cops don't know wtf what is...

And on top of all that, you can just say, this is a 240sx. I refabed the whole car to imitate a skyline

Done deal

I think the worst thing you could do is assume the cops are that stupid...chances are, they're not.

Most of them are, 90% of the ones I've spoken to over the years never heard of them and didn't even know what it was when looking at it.

Thats because its not a big deal to them. They don't care. Its not a major issue with them. Why? Because unlike our gov't they focus on real crimes and issues. Not petty s*** like having a car. My question is, how the F**K does a Jeep Wrangler pass crash testing and a Skyline can't?????? Or how about a GEO Metro? Produced in the same era as the R32 and R33. BS. They nothing better to do, but to control and regulate wait people can and can't have. Instead of doing their job and taking care of bigger issues!

It's not that the Skyline CAN'T pass, its that they have not tested it. The car was never imported into the US, therefore the money to test it was never spent by Nissan and never will be.Just like a HID retrofit, it is always illegal unless it can be tested by the DOT.

Regulations suck a fatty

Because if you do get caught doing that, you are looking at possible jail time. Is it really worth it?

I am a Skyline tuner . I have extensive experience with tuning Skylines to pass the emissions IM240 test to be legal in the country here.

Is this issue a emissions issue? or is it a crash test / compliance issue?

IF this is a emissions issue then I can help with passing the IM240 test. We use the same emissions testing that is used in California called the IM240 emissions test. I can tune cars to pass this test without issues and willing to fly to the US to help you guys out if its needed.

If you guys need some help then email me on [email protected] - or pm me on this forum and i will be able to help.

If this is true then it really sucks. I would be willing to help to fix this issue if it is needed.

To me this kind of sounds like complete bulls***. For them to approve and register a car they would know if the car is approved for registration in the country before registering it.

If this is true then i will be willing to help.

Cheers

The issue with the R33 right now is OBDII

The issue with the R32 and R34 is crash testing

My dream car is a Skyline

Here's the real question: Why does the government spend so much time trying to keep these out of the country?

They want to tax everything, and they would make CONSIDERABLE revenue when these cars are imported, fabbed to pass crash specs, and tuned/fabbed to pass smog. It has been proven that both of these requirements can be met given the opportunity, but the federal government doesn't seem to acknowledge any of it. Can anyone help me understand big brother on this one?

I'm only 17 so hopefully before I get old enough to afford one, they'll come to their senses...

California is a joke (so is the US federal government). It’s going bankrupt, overridden with criminals. so many drug addicts, thieves and illegal immigrants. But worst of all, way too many nosey hippie liberals. More worried about a few Skylines than the fundamental right to PROPERTY!!! If it doesn't pass some retarded test... safety or emissions or whatever... the max the government should be able to do is take away your registration and license plate. If you get caught driving on a public road. They should give you a ticket and max take away your drivers license. The government should not be allowed to steal your property. That goes for street racing too. I fled SoCal 10 years ago to escape the oppression from those tyrants. It’s really sad to say I have more freedom in Japan than is USA.I'm in the US military and have served my country most of my life. I've earned the right to tell those tyrants to f*** off.Someone needs to stand up and sue the government on the Constitutional Right to own property.Amendment IV:"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."This is unreasonable seizure!! The EPA and Customs' supporting regulations are unconstitutional.Supreme law of the land:"This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding."

Constitution trumps all regulations. Just need to find a honest Judge to rule in favor of the Constitution, right to property and common sense. Good luck.

P.S. all you retarded liberals please don't move to Japan and screw it up too. On second thought, I mean, call me... we can hang out. I'll even pick you up at the airport (and dump your a** in the ocean).

Here's one that gets me the most. How can you ride a motorcycle on the streets that in reality is not safe but not a Skyline? Ummmm

Not gotten one & don't expect it...mostly because I have this letter:

My current situation is just that I've been offered a trade of a non-Motorex R34 GT-R for my Motorex R32. Damned tempting, but with them cracking down, I'm not sure. But man, to have an R34 is a nice idea.

Thats why I wouldn't trade a Motorex car for a non Motorex vehicle even an R34 and I really like the R34's. You just don't know the history of the vehicle and its previous owners

I find it funny how you bash the U.S. Government, but then you tell us you are an employee of the U.S. Government. Contradiction if I ever heard it, but hey. I was military too, so I have nothing against ya. And thanks.

Where in Japan are you located?
