Ok, so I FINALLY got to drive my car. In the garage it idled wonderfully. Upon taking it out, i noticed that when i come to a stop it would surge...idle up and down and sound like it wants to cut off. When i continued, I finally ran it into boost and upon letting off the clutch it would just stall. when i would re-start it would surge again and would not really clear up for a while. I am not sure what this is....BOV? My original theory was that the BOV was releasing air (atmospheric) and the engine was being flooded but why then would I still get issues even when i never hit boost? any suggestions?? all help very much appreciated!!

It sounds like at idle after regular driving it could be IACV sticking. But boosting it then it dying is definately from not recurculating the BOV back into the intake.Use your decel function on your s-afc.

You can block your iacv and use the allen screw on the throttle body to control your Idle.

thread jack, elks 240, does the s-afc or the s-afc 2 have the decel function? this will stop my car from surging and dying when the BOV vents, correct?

So does eManage, and it's easier to use. Where is your MAF in relation to your turbo.

What kind of BOV are you using, I was having the ame problem with my XS BOV because it was opening under no load because the spring in them are weak, so I put like 6 washers under the spring and now it idles perfect, and also mine is atmospheric.

ok, first off....thank you to all that gave input on this issue. I have found the problem. I started with putting about 10 washers in the BOV, no help. Next started thinking it was the MAF (problem with buying used parts---you never know if they REALLY work), no help. Next I pushed for the fuel pump because it was very loud as if it were empty. I called up VORTEC(external pump), had it out with them and got a reluctant refund. Ordered a Bosch pump, installed---same problem. Finally, I checked the fuel filter...PAYDIRT--there must have been molding debris in my fuel cell from the factory because it was full, i mean FULL of plastic dust. Long story short; problem fixed and boost is great. Vids soon!!

One Question: Is it DEFINITE that the SAFC version one has the idle control?? I have heard that only the version 2 and up have this capability.

that's great to hear because I always like it when someone goes through the hard way of trial and error. But to answer your question, I don't know if I would call it idle control, yet it does effect idle in many ways. But if you are refferring to the decelleration settings option, yes it is 100% for sure both I and II have it.

Yeah, it's really just a hot wire correction. I am not sure, but I think it works like this: Below a certain TPS voltage, it tells the computer that MAFv is lower that what it is, so that it will stop adding fuel, and overrun what it has. Does anyone else know.
