Has anyone experienced this behaviour? Driveline issue?

Hi all, I've been experiencing some strange jerking during deceleration. 92, 240SX SE 5 speed. All stock. Clutch has 100k on it. 147,000 miles. Photo attached.

I notice this in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. I'm driving along, release the accelerator and it feels like there's some resistance that lets loose in spurts and the car jerks enough to notice. Acceleration is fine, idle is smooth and I can't relate it to anything. It almost feels like there's some braking going on and it releases and re-engages. Driveline issue?

I'm the original owner so I know every quirk about this car. I'd be interested to see if anyone has experienced this or may have diagnosed something like it.

Thanks!

Is there any hesitation followed by sudden lurch on accel? Sorta like it falls on its face for a sec and then pick back up to normal? If so then this could be a faulty Throttle Position Sensor. If not then is there a noise that acompanies the jerking? If so then this could be a broken toothe on a transmission gear. I would like to think that it's not that serious, though. The simplest thing for you to check would be the brakes though. A dragging pad or sticking caliper might cause this problem or something similar.

THANKS! I think you're in the ball park with the TPS. I've recently noticed a slight hesitation & lurch that has just been starting. Luckily, I've heard no noises associated with this.

I'll post a follow-up. I hope it's a TPS repair or replacement. Much better than gear teeth!
