I found mandrel bent exh piping at summit or jegs is very cheap, I know the welded joints/seams from home made setup will hinder flow a lil bit but- i can get all i need for <100$ shipped with a muffler. Has anyone else done this, and what j or elbow parts are needed to make the right shape?

a friend of mine does custom fabrication at a muffler shop and has done stuff like your talking about but i dont think it has been an entire exhaust. just put the car up on a hoist and measure out the curves and distances that are the straightest line from header or cat converter back to muffler. i just had my exhausr redone and he just made the pipes as straight as he could. it would work with enough time and effort. good luck!

it would definitely take LOTS of time and effort unless you could get measurements from a shop or something. It's a possibility though. Good luck if you decide to go that route! :)

I made my own exhaust. It takes a welder, a chop saw and lots of time. You'll also need some bar stock to weld on and make hanger brackets.

i did it--hard part is getting a shop that will do the 3"inch thing--cutting and section wleding is kinda time consuming--but using mandrel bends is the best way to go.

i welded my own exhaust also. its 2.25" mild steel and all the bends are section welds. i got a magnaflow muffler for 60 bucks and the piping and flanges were from the old exhasut i fabbed up on my subaru. what you generally need for a project like this is time, a lift to get the car up on, a welder (mig for mine), a chop saw, and a bench grinder to clean the slag off from the chop saw. as far as materials go.... piping of your choice, flanges, muffler, and stuff to make hangers out of.

mine took me the whole day in autoshop at my school. lol

i'll try and get pics up of it as soon as i can though.

this is true, but I dont know. If I were you I would support the the people that invest here and snag a brm. Everyone is saying they are great, and they are as close to custom as production for the masses comes.
