the KA driveshaft? just wondering how much TQ it would take to break one. being in a 510 i will have to get a custom one made anyway. i was wondering if i should just get one based off of the KA or have a total one off driveshaft?

UMS_CA18DET broke his the other day. Not very common to break, but if I were building a drag/race car like you are, I would get a one-piece hands down.

the 1 piece aluminum from enjuku (the driveshaft shop actually) is 11 lbs and supposedly rated for 800 ft-lbs

i have no doubt that they can make you one shorter or longer for a just a little more, thats what im going to end up doing when i drop the CA into my ae86

I tried 3 times to get a decent driveshaft from those people. Every time it was too short and not balanced (big headache). I had one made from a shop in Ontario Ca. that came out perfect the first time for the same cost -shipping.Another thing to think about is vibration. I am also running subframe collars along with the one piece driveshaft, so all the vibration that comes from the motor gets transferred to the transmission to the driveshaft to the differential to the subframe to the frame to my seat.

If its your daily driver, may I suggest that the center support bearing on the stock S13 driveshaft is amazing at dampening drivetrain vibration.

I never had a problem with one on my Z32. According to most, the only time people found vibrations was when their car was previously in a wreck or had urethane/metal bushings throughout. And if you're that hardcore to have metal subframe spacers or urethane bushings, you can't complain about a little vibration.

That's a KA only thing. Nissan put that on there because it's got so much torque they needed something to dampen the drivetrain shock to make it more streetable.
