Hello,Longtime reader, first time poster on the Q forum. Over on the M45 forum we have been searching high and low for something to add a little more soul to our 03/04 M's. The one and only thing applicable to the VK45 that we have found is the Jet Chips ECM upgrade which was originally done for the F50. The fellas at Jet indicate a 16 h.p increase and the removal of the 145 M.P.H speed limiter. Has anyone had this done? The cost is $500.00 and requires the ECM to be sent in rather than a core swap. I come over here often and really enjoy your forum.CheersMark Linkous

Jet doesn't carry too much weight here, and 16 HP would probably not be noticeable. Need at least a 10% increase in torque to notice.

That is what I was worried about. At minimum, I would wait until my warranty ends.CheersMark

I was reading on the FX boards and you really dont get that much more HP. 15HP may be noticeable (SLIGHTLY) but not enough to justify the dough they want.

I was afraid it sounded too good to be true. More than anything, the thought of voiding the warranty is scary. Thank you all so much for your responses.Mark

Part of the reason the VK45 has more power is since OBDII has more computing power, they can run the ECU's more advanced. Therefore, an OBDII ECU would be able to run similar to an OBDI ECU that is remapped for better performance.
