At the end of the summer I'am going to do a sr swap into my 240sx. just wanted to know if it is worth it, or if I'am just going to spend more money into repairs for it?

most of the people in here have SR20s, personally i'm gonna go the KAT way, but whatever you prefer. Its a worth-wile investment.

It depends on what you feel is "worth it". I'm just finishing mine up, it should have taken 3 days for me to finish my own swap but my idle issues have taken alot of time to figure out. I've already driven the car, and it's rather fun but possibly not enough to justify the total cost of the motor with all the parts and bs I had to deal with. I put alot of money into the motor though so I don't have many maintainence issues later on down the road, like the timing chain, head gasket, etc. I've spent a total of 4k on my swap and that's basically for stock power, minus the intake, and the ported and polished head. But I did all the work on it myself. It really depends on what you define as "worth it". I think for the time being, I'm just po'ed that I had a bad iacv and that was throwing off my game but once all the work is done that I'll be crapping my pants with fun with the motor. But that's just me though.

yeah that about how much i'am looking to spend and i want to replacing the head gasket and timing chain and other parts that should be replaced. I found the place where i'am going to take to do the swap. my opinion still, i'am going to be happy doing the swap and having the power, wanted to know what you guys thought about it.

180fan,

i heard a rumor that the stock 240 drive-shaft is a little short for the swap, but still works

How is that possible if the SR and KA use the same transmission...(just a diff bellhousing)

But then again I haven't done the swap, nor do I plan to anytime soon, so it may very well be true.

The drive shaft fits perfect. I have a s14 sr20det in my s13. out of the six cars i owned in the past four years, and one of them being a wrx, and a gsr swaped hatch: the sr20det swap is by far the best.

In my case, the KA driveshaft was long. The driveshaft for the 240 is slightly different than the one for the SR from what I could tell. You have to change the rear section of the transmission that fits over the part where the driveshaft slides in. The KA one is needed unless you do what I did which was cut the bugger till the KA driveshaft fit. The SR one is thicker and also longer than than the KA one (the dust thing on the transmission) hence the trimming.
