Hi,

My car has now 165 000 kms and I was wondering when the cvt fluid needs to be changed? I looked at the dip stick and you can't remove it.

Thanks ahead of time!!

Gerry

I had my first V's CVT fluid changed at 90,000 mi (145,000 km). The service manual said if you're driving under dusty or muddy conditions to replace it every 60k miles if you weren't using the Nissan computer to check on it. It doesn't say when to change it under other conditions, whether Schedule 1 or Schedule 2 - just to inspect it.

Since I don't drive under those conditions very often I just figured I'd play it safe. Plus, I had the work done at my favorite mechanic, so he didn't have the CONSULT II computer to check the CVT fluid.

Automakers consider Canada harsh conditions, so it should be done at 60K.

Maybe the owners manual has the information...

Take the car to your Nissan dealer and have them run the CVT diagnostic - there is test that can be run that checks on how the fluid is doing - basically they pull a degredation number and compare it to the acceptable level...if it's worse, they change the fluid. If not, your fluid is good to go still.
