when replacing a heater blower motor on a 95 240sx, do you have to break the a/c system open? My mechanic is telling me so????

Please advise

You might have to, The blower is under the pass side of the dash to the top right and the AC is is in the middle of the assy.

Go take off your glove box and see if you unbolt both if you have some wiggle room.

Nope. The entire assembly can be removed from under the dash. I thought the motor was bad in my 96; turns out the bearings were gummed up. Broke open the motor housing, cleaned the bearings, pulled out the piles of pine straw, put everything back, & it works just fine now.

I just had to pull the EFI harness through the firewall to check for a bad wire. I needed to pull the blower unit out to do this, and yes to pull the blower unit I had to pull the cooling unit which meant breaking the a/c lines open at the firewall.

However, if you are just replacing the blower motor, it looked to me like you could just remove the 4 (8mm (I think) bolts) (on the metal circular band) and the blower motor should drop out. I believe you'll also have to remove the metal framing for the glove box, but this is also just 4 bolts that are easy to get to once the glove box is removed.
