Has anyone added more intake ducts into their pignose?

i know a lot of people generally go with aftermarket front bumpers if they want or need more ducts, but i find most of them to be ugly. not to mention urethane holds up a lott better then fiberglass.

so im curious if anyone has added ducts into the lower portion of their pig nose fronts. im in the process of doing so right now. left side for an oil cooler, right side for my sidemount IC. ive seen 2 pictures of european 200sx's with a vent for the stock side mount, but never anyone in north america.

input?

I cut the support out of the bottom of the pignose and know people who cut the nose slits out.

ok so here are my first attempts.

this is the oil cooler side, with a rough trim. they fit like a glove and snap into place.

this is the side mount side trimmed so it flows with the bumper.

i just painted both of them so by tomorrow i should have pics of them and the bumper mounted on the car. glitter black whuttt

let me know what you think

ok so here is the finished result of my first attempt.

and mounted on the car

i think it looks pretty sick. i had to trim the foam bumper support a slight bit because of the way the fiberglass folded upwards. other then that they just stay in by themselves. ill probably throw double sided tape on eventually so that they form even better with the bumper.

how so?

it flows with the bumper and is low enough that you can barely see it in the first place.

Too big IMO. You could have gotten away with a smaller hole. But thats just me. It probably look alot better painted..

It's not in shape, I can see gaps between it and the bumper. Shape doesn't flow really. I think you need to get to sanding and shaping and try molding it then have the bumper painted.

In my opinion i think that it would look better molded into the bumper as well. it may also look a lot better if you just painted the pieces you made the same color as the bumper. Looks like good work though, a lot better than any fiberglass work I've done.

Yeah, I agree that they are too big.

The OEM 89-90 180sx bumper came with a hole on the US Driver's side for the SMIC.

thanks for the input guys.

i gonna apply some double sided tape so that they get pulled in closer to the bumper.

so for colour, i think doing it body colour might look weird. ill photoshop it later and see how it looks.

I was gonna mount Passat projecter fogs there. But the units are way huger than expected.

I like what you have Fiberglassed so far. It looks like it would work well for motor sports.

For those with the CIA mounted in front of open holes in the bumper. I recently saw a TT G37 suck in rocks that went through mesh wire of the filter. Chewed the turbine up and more. I recommend covering the openings with the hard grill that some use to build speakers. It's a little more durable than mesh.

Think it looks decent actually... funtional too. I'd just clean the edges up a bit tho, make it so the mounting flange (i guess you could call it) has the same thickness all the way around.

props
