the ebay clutches are a gamble. if ur not going the expensiv route and geting a multi disc clutch. it is not neccessary to buy a costly name brand one. the oem clutch in most cars including urs has a holding force of about 1500 lbs of holding pressure per sq. inch. thats more than enough holding pressure dont u think? especialy if ur not in the 500hp/tq+ range wich inthat case u would need a multi-disc. but since the majority of ka24det 240 owners dont take there cars to the limit in hp/tq #s, single disc is more than sufficiant. if u can locate a clutch rebuilding shop near u go there and have them rebuild ur old 1. hears a brake down of what high performance clutch stages concist of:
stage 1 same as stock preassure plate with stiffer friction disc springs to handle about 300lbs tq.stage 2 1500-1800lb pressure plate f.d. springs that handle 500lbs tq. but less friction disc surface then stage 1 for better heat dissipation.stage 3 1800-2000lb pressure plate rigid friction disc(no springs) for 500+lbs tq. and sometimes less friction disc surface than stage 2 for better cooling.i had my clutch rabuilt by F&S performance clutch is l.a. it has my stock pressure plate with the stage 2 friction disc. cost: $150
F&S oem rebuilt $75 oem new $125 about stage 1 $250 stage 2 $300 stage 3 $350
