just curious, as we're building a road-race car. cooling is of utmost importance; the car will be pushing anywhere from 450-500 whp on race gas. we need something that can be beat on all day reliably.

my question is: has anybody setup the ducting for an efficient v-mount ic setup? obviously, a v-mount ic setup without ducting does nothing; does anybody have any tips on ducting? (any mech e majors here?)

yes it has been done, cant remember what magazine I saw it in, if I remember I will post it. Actually I plan on doin the same thing with my ka, as for the ducting......well that depends on exactly where you v-mount the cooler, if its far back enough you can put a small scoop in the hood.

the motor, once broke in, will be putting out 400 whp and we are using a custom IC core and a koyo radiator for the KA motor. also going to use two 8" electric fans. i am doing an S15 front conversion and we are going to get a vented hood and box it in around that vent with sheetmetal. it will be done in about a month and a half and i'll post pics then.

no, scc's car does not have a v-mount, and no, i do know it's been done numerous times. i'm asking for practical advice from those who HAVE DONE it.

your input is greatly appreciated.

JayPat83, keep me posted on how it goes! good luck with your ka-t.

Check out Signal Auto's website, their 180SX Drift Team cars known as Drifter X, and Drifter XL both use a V-Mount intercooler setup. Here some pics of Signal Auto's cars for you enjoyment.

JDMRice Ver.2 has a V-mount set up. They had a feature on the car in Modified Mag about 6 months ago. IIRC they had some sweet pics of the V-mount set up.
