pointless.

they have the same gear ratios and the bellhousing doesnt match. I was told the KA transmission is more robust than the SR transmission anyway.

the transmissions are a direct swap.

The only difference is 2 sensors (the lack thereof on the SR transmission), driveshaft dust cover and the bellhousing.

No they are not a direct swap, the gearboxes are interchangable however (gearbox + bell housing = transmission)

I think their both the same you would just have to swap bellhousing on the transmission

KA transmission is cheaper to find anyways so there is not point unless you alreayd got an SR transmission

So if you put the KA gearbox in the SR bellhousing and it will work?

Would be handy to know though if your SR transmission goes out.

different - you'll need the 6sp, the rear from the s15 (gorgeous helical diff anyway) and the driveshaft will prolly need to be a custom jobby. u need the diff bc of the gearing... also ull need the shafts for the diff which have become a pain to get i hear.

but yes, i have a KA trans on my sr (swapped bell housings...) - i broke the sr one pretty good

Does the SR bellhousing not have the crankshaft position sensor thingy?
