Has anybody followed the Install (In the main page) of the subwoofers at the side of the car? or does everybody puts them on the trunk?

I want to put 2 10's in my car but i want the best sound and would love to keep my trunk available.

BTW this is an S14

Anybody has done it?

Ahhh but you guys have fastbacks, i love hatchbacks because of the caracteristics of the hatch it self, but the S14 is a coupe, and i don't know anything about subs in the trunk.

s14 seats fold down correct? I have an s13 so i dont have a real clue, ne way.... i suggest you get 2 10 inch alpine type r's. They take up a tiny amount of room boxwise. Face them towards the direction of your choice either way you can put carpet over the box, just not the surface of the sub if you face them out. Cover the box and the surface of your trunk w/ 1 big sheet of carpet. This way you conserve room its stealth and still loud. the amp usually isnt a big waste of space you can figure that one out.

I'm running two tens in the trunk of my s-14. I built a custom box in the spare tire well, so I didn't lose any trunk space, but I have no spare tire. if your interested let me know I will e-mail you pics. It wasn't hard to do. Good luck

I don't know if this reply was to me(Original Poster) or to the post above it (About doing it in an S13) but if its to me that is what i wanted to know if someone had done THAT in their Car.

Why in the hell would you want to get rid of your spare? Yeah you don't use it until something happens, but when it happens, you'll be sorry you took it out. I have 2 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect subs in a small enclosure in my trunk. Yes, you will lose 80% of your trunk space, but you can always make do without a trunk space better than without your spare.

Right the 100 dollar per/ subwoofers and 5 dollar carpet is INSANITY!! hush you

No offense but calling anyone sub and even amp the best is pretty silly. Its all based on oppinion and what its being judged for. Idq are very nice subs no doubt, but there are things better i personally like adire audio better than anyone right now but its all oppinion. Still the idq's are nice, expensive, but nice if your judging on sq, for pure spl there are a million things better( armaggedons, juggs, brahma/tempest/shiva, ect). for sq/spl there is better also(shiva/brahma/tempest, memphis has better supposedly, elemental designs, evo).

Just to follow up, where did that install page go? I'm trying to see if I can stuff 8/10s in the rear quarter panel too, but in my s13 FB.

I did something that I think is pretty cool. I built a custom box to fit on that little ledge right behind the back seat in my s14. I have two 10's and they fit perfect. The one and only problem I am having is that I had to take out the torsion bars or whatever they are called to help open the trunk. So my trunk weighs like 50 pounds when I open it, but it's not too bad. I think I am going to try and install the little gas pumps or hydrolic pumps like you see on some newer cars. I don't know, but I think it works out pretty good, because I have all of the trunk and the spare and my subs. I can take pics in the morning if you want.Josh

that's cool n everything, but I got jacked through my trunk, so i'd rather stay away from that setup. Nice box though, looks like it delivers~!

By further back do you mean you want me to move away from the car and take more pics, or what exactly do you mean? I don't have any but tell me what you want me to take a pic of and I will go take them. I am going to look at a 240 for my cousin but let me know and I will take them when I get home.Josh

Yes, from a little further away, so that I can get an idea of how much of the trunk it takes up.

Thanks!

I am just finishing up fiberglass panels for the install your talking about. I had Panels out of MDF and two tens just to see what it sounded like and If you are planning on skimping on dynomat and polyfill dont waste your time. If you don't spend the money on this stuff it will rattle extremely bad. It sounded good for a quick install. Anyways, I am switching from the tens to four 8" subs with a slot port. If it sounds good, I will be making more fiberglass enclosures for this type of install for dual 8"or single 10" subs if anyone is interested. I will take pics in about a month or two when it is complete. Its a little cold outside and it will take awhile between work and class, but I'll keep ou updated if you want.

hey nismofan14, any chance I can get a quick sneakpeek at your work??? Oh and by the way, how big is the opening for the quarter panel on the s14? My s13 measured in at 8.5x6 for the hole and 5 inches deep.

Lol....If you can wait till saturday you can see it. Just got back from work and i have to lay another layer of fiberglass and then the putty after that hardens. I would have it done sooner but between class from 9 to 2 and work 3 'till midnight I am left with no time for 240 untill the weekend. :( If this layer makes it hard enough then I might have it done by friday. I'll post the measurements of the hole tomorrow morning but they might be in the install page on 240sx.org. I know that you can fit a 10" sub in there and still have .75 cu ft of airspace.
