AFAIK there is a TSB for the 2009 Infiniti G37 regarding this issue.

I took my car to the dealer today complaining that the car was almost un-drivable at times with incredibly harsh and jerky gear changes, however they were unable to reproduce the fault and therefore did not do anything.

The service tech said that this TSB doesn't apply for the G37x, and only for AWD versions. Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the AWD the said as the x????

What's worse is that he said the car learns how aggressive the gear changes should be and blamed my driving!!

Any help appriciated!

Thanks!
Dave

I've noticed that when my car is cold, it changes gears harsher then when warmed up. That could be why it didn't show up to the dealer. You may have to let the dealer keep your car overnight to test in the morning...

we have a 2010 g37x AWD with the same problem. Dealer said that the 2009 fix came out reciently, and advised that we would have to wait for the 2010 version. She said it could be a year! Our issue is not too bad, but for car that cost close to 40 K it should be "smooth as silk"

I know the G has better road feel than other cars in its class but the slow speed shifting is disturbing. its fine when you accelerate agressivly, but when driving at 25 mph the car is constantly up and down shifting.

my 2010 G37x shifts smooth and dosent search for gears too much at low speeds... but my car came off the assembly line febuary of this year... maybe they changed something?

but when a transmission is cold during the first 3-8 mins of driving, shifting will be harsh for any car...

Matic S fluid gives it a harder shift, which I think the G uses. You could swap to Matic D fluid which wil contribute to a smoother shift.

And X = AWD.
