Just noticed this morning everytime i hit the brakes hard I get this harsh clicking sound from the front end not really a clunk. Nissan just did a brake service on the truck... any ideas? anyone have this problem?

Could it be ABS?

Just picked up the finder from the dealer. They told me that since there were aftermarket pads installed on the truck that the clicking will stay until I install OEM pads since the backings are thicker then the aftermarket or until the brake dust builds up again and prevents the pads from moving around. But they assured me the brakes are safe.

Well okay that makes sense. . lol @ me suggesting abs... sorry, I know you're not as dumb as I am.

I have aftermarket pads and no clicking, however. . maybe I got lucky :o

i woulda said something to them seeing how you mentioned that nissan just did the brakes, they should have put oem pads on. just a thought.

Exactly. Why is the dealer putting on aftermarket crappy brake pads anyway?Did you pay full pop for them or did you actually specify cheaper pads?I wouldn't accept this result if I were you. Keep after them.

Sorry, those pads were already on the truck when I bought it. All nissan did was a front and rear brake service

And what did that consist of? What did they do and how much did it cost?Did you have it serviced because you had a problem, or was this preventative maintenance?I'm very curious.

Its really just preventitive maintenance, they charged me 180 to do the job which I thought was pretty high, but hey they gotta make there money some how. Anyway for the fronts the remove the caliper and clean the pads and shims remove any rust build up, lubricate the sliders (apparently they were seized) and apply lubricant to backings to reduce brake noise, for the rears they cleaned and adjusted the shoes. The only reason I told them to go ahead and do it is because they told me I still had about 30-40% of pad life left which is more than i initially thought.

mine was a tick under $400, but consisted of new pads and shims, turn the front rotors, new shoes and hardware in the rear, turn the drums, clean everything, repack front wheel bearings and flush the old fluid out and refill with new.

All that for under $400.00 is pretty good in my book. Was that at a dealer or a third party repair shop?

Wow thats a really good price. Gotta love those dealerships though charging almost 200 just for a service. Thats why im doin my own brakes when the time comes, they're gonna charge me $750 to replace the front pads & rotors and repack the bearings.
