well after that the alarm doesn't even go off anymore........maybe because i have no hood anymore but we pushed down the hood sensor. We also awhile back took out something that controled an alarm but my alarm was fine. Now i just checked to see if it worked. Here Look.ppastos wrote:Can you take a picture please?
Wasn't there an alarm on the car before it probably for it.
I would go though this: http://web.archive.org/web/200...5.htm or take it to a great alarm expert not a half ***unknown007 wrote:well after that the alarm doesn't even go off anymore........maybe because i have no hood anymore but we pushed down the hood sensor. We also awhile back took out something that controlled an alarm but my alarm was fine. Now i just checked to see if it worked. Here Look.
Makes sense because it only flashed when it had some thick and clear on top.Where would it go on the glass?Q451990 wrote:Harrison is (was?) an alarm company... I had one in the early 90's on another car. I'm going to guess that it's either a shock sensor or glass breakage sensor? Where does the wire go?

I have no idea what you are trying to convey in the above blurb, but chances are the old alarm is not currently functional-just leave it alone or rip it out.unknown007 wrote:

The wire comes from the back of the stereo side with all the wires back that and stuff.Front windshield was replaced on previous owner and now replaced again so maybe previous owner did that or something.
I may just do that. But ima just see where it goes.Seems like it needs to go on the windshield.qship96 wrote:

I shall not decide to follow it.But i put it back where it belonged or was before. It was underneath the dash where most aftermarket lights go.Is that ok and be able to detect sound?qsiguy wrote:Also looks to me like a glass break sensor. If it is, it wouldn't really need to "go" anywhere in particular. It is just a microphone that detects the sound of breaking glass anywhere in the vehicle. Wire should lead you to the brain of the alarm should you decide to follow it.
When i bought the car they didnt have any remotes.I didn't even know it had an alarm until one day i left my windows down and i opened the door unlocking it from inside. Then i knew it had one but would lock when i locked the doors. Now when i do it nothing happens that why i suspect it maybe the hood. But everytime i scratching something or make a bang it lights up.Working?Q451990 wrote:Do you have any aftermarket alarm remotes? Many aftermarket alarms were added just to have remote control access to the door locks, if it wasn't on the car from the factory. I think it should have been standard by '93 though.
I you don't have any aftermarket remotes, I suspect the aftermarket alarm is lurking under there and you just can't use it. Might be useful to know if it's still connected in case it goes nutty sometime and prevents you from starting the car...

I'll check it out later im not trying to take out the stereo and stuff out again.ppastos wrote:Well then it has a shock sensor as well I would trace the wire to the main alarm computer and see if another sensor is attached to it as well.
i might just do that.Thought i put it where it should be.There was some glue sticky stuff under the dash board by the pedals so we put it back there.gammer_ghn wrote:You want my honest answer? Leave it alone it has been there for a long time and has not given you a problem and now if you touch it you might mess it up. I Had a lincoln continental before the Q and it had an alarm and when i messed with the alarm the alarm messed with me from than on. By messing i mean i zip tied a hanging sensor back to its place!
