Hello to all my neighbors! Happy to be here with you! I love my new car, but there are some things that need to be taken care of before I can start doing any kind of mods. My biggest and most important question to you is who works on your g35 (please don't say the stealership!)? Do you take it to the stealership? Have a personal mechanic, or garage whom you trust and does great jobs and has extensive knowledge, tools and resources? Do you do your own work? I really want to get some work done but I don't know who to trust other than the dealership honestly but I want to save some money on labor. I'll buy the parts I Need all I'll need is the labor. This is my first luxury car and I care so much about it I don't want just anybody doing anything on her. Any suggestions?

Welcome to NICO!

For the most part, these cars are pretty reliable. For complicated modifications, I would recommend a tuner or shop that has done work on G's in the past. For other work that you don't want to do yourself, its either a small shop or a dealership. You have to use whatever you feel comfortable with. Just google for shops in your area.

A photo taken of my partial automotive library with a few older volumes.

The four volume FSM for my 2006 G is probably over 2k pages.

You use the term "stealership"

Factory training is expensive as well as learning how to use diagnostic tools and expensive electronic equipment.
Are you going to trust someone who calls themselves a mechanic without Infiniti factory training to work on your G?

I learned a long time ago when an independant shop screwed up my 88 Mazda 929. After a month(very long story) I ended up taking it to the dealer. I was able to get a charge back on my credit card for the poor workmanship done by the independant shop but I now only trust the dealer to work on my cars.
I do my own oil and filter changes, cabin filter, air filter and tire rotations myself.

47 oil changes thus far.

Just my $.02

Yup! I trust myself and I'm not a certified Infiniti mechanic.....actually, not a mechanic at all!! :gapteeth:
You can usually save yourself some $$$ by having your Infiniti serviced/fixed at a Nissan dealer instead of Infiniti.
These are basically rebadged Nissan Skylines anyway.

If you do like to do your on service, check the Factory Service Manuals.
I have copies of all of my Nissan/Infiniti cars on my harddrive at home.

Brakes jobs/Coolant drain & fill/spark plug replacement/oil changes/filter changes are all pretty ez straight forward jobs.
I've done these and some more involved stuff as has MANY of the other members here!!
Money I save in DIY stuff goes into more tools!!!! :dblthumb:
