ok im planning on getting a corbeau 3 or 4pt harness for my fastback. i will ONLY be using this for autox (no cage). i know the basics on how to install this, but i would like to see some others opinions/pics on how to put this in a fastback (IE anchor points). ive read a few guides but none for a 240 fb. can i use any of the rear belt mounting points?? id like to avoid drilling holes and using backing plates if possible. im also wondering about the lap belt, wheres a good place to anchor those?? all the writeups i can find have reg seat belts and not auto ones

p.s. ive got a corbeau forza seat, and no back seats(heres a schroth writeup i found http://www.soloracer.com/harnschrothfaq.html)

I have heard on several occations that it is not safe to use a race harness without a rollcage. In the event of a roll over, a three point harness will allow you to move around in the seat some, a four or more point harness immobilizes you in the seat, making neck or spinal injury much more likely.

Again this is forum hearsay, I'd ask a more seasoned racer or qualified performance specialist. When it comes to safety, attention to details is huge. What price can you put on your own life?

yes yes yes i know about the roll cage thing. that is why im only using this for autox, and theres not really a chance to flip over. the speeds just arent high enuf, if i was on a road course with much higher speeds i would get a cage. theres plenty of people running harneses in autox w/o rollcages.

Anyone have the proper bar in between the B pillars? I heard that SCCA and NASA rules dictate that with a harness, you must have a bar at shoulder height that the harness goes over, so that it dosen't go from the back of the seat to the anchor. I heard this is because in a crash, without the harness extending back at shoulder level, you can break your back in an accident. I am considering just welding a peice of 3/4" steel pipe between the B pillars. I know that Spacro makes a removeable one now as well, and a lot of cage makers include "Harness Bar" as an option.

could you break down every spot you have it anchored, the lap belt too. couldnt you attach it to the rear strut bar?? i mean its in there pretty solid, and its closer to shoulder height than the floor. thanks

the lap belts are in the factory locations (no more stock lap belts on the driver side) the lap belt on the right is atttached to the seat, and the one on the left is attached to the floor beside the drivers seat. the actual shoulder piece is anchored in the rear stock seatbelt hole.

im not sure if you could attach it to the strut bar, ill look at it when i get home, the harness might not be long enough though.

i dont have the crotch belt installed yet, i gotta drill a hole for that, but the way i have it setup now works fine for autocross, and it passed state inspection that way too(no stock lap belt)

no, the stock belt was there, all i had to do was cut the carpet a little bit because the bracket on my harness was bigger than the stock piece. all of my harnesses are in stock holes, except for the crotch piece. ill have to drill one for that.

haha, no your not, in fact youre making me second guess myself, ill go look and come back. but there is a hole there, you have to take off the plastic piece in the door frame, and pull back the carpet, and the male end of the lap belt retracts here, you pull out the stock male end, and bolt in the harness in the existing hole, ill go look

no part of the lap belt goes into any pillar at all. one side is bolted to the seat, and the other side is bolted to the floor.

yes. but what i realized when i looked, is that i had to cut an entirely new hole in the carpet. but yeah, thats where i bolted it. i wish i could show it to you in person. because from what i can tell, we're confusing the hell out of eachother.

what has everyone decided for a shoulder level bar? i have a fb w/ the auto belts and don't want to weld one directly to the pillars just yet.
