the wiring on my sr is just giving me a headache,im getting ready to put my sr in but i wanna get the harness ready by figuring out all the senors and hows it going in. my question is about how you guys did the transmission harness, and what wires and connectors did you guys have to splice to use. my main harness has already been made (extended). the connector that connects the engine main harness to the transmission harness is what is confusing me, do i have to cut that piece off and put in the sr harness? and the starter, aleternator and batter cables/connectors just connect to the sr motor? can you guys please help me out here. thanks

you use the KA trans harness, and use the KA transmission sensors as well. The alternator connections are like universal if i recall correctly.

use the jdm sensors (on the transmission) except the speedo. that'll let you keep your usdm speedo and put the jdm tach in your cluster and you're done.

Well I am reading this at school, and I am not in front of my car. So don't flame me if I make a mistake, but I don't remember connecting the transmission harness to the main engine harness. Use the SR transmission harness and use the plugs off the KA harness.

KA transmission harness + KA transmission sensors + SR transmission = Done

no need for expensive JDM clusters or splicing. Pretty simple.

thanks guys for all your help, i am going to try to figure this out tonite, but the SR MAIN HARNESS AND THE KA transmission HARNESS DO NOT CONNECT? is that correct? because i dont see a plug off the sr harness that would go connect to the ka transmission harness

the lower harness does not connect to the upper harness.

What I gather from this (because I am just as confused as fullrunsilvia even after reading the info at srswap.com) is that I can use my lower harness from my ka. Is that right?

This means that my ka lower harness will plug right into the alternator, starter, transmission, etc. The only sensor I should have to swap is the transmission sensor, then I'm good right?

The reason I ask is because my lower harness that came with the SR is cut.

Thanks!

/\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\ /\READ THAT! thats all there is to it. The two harnesses dont connect. This lets you read the correct mph. And retain the stock cluster.

Yes, I read that and that is why I think I understand what needs to be done. My post was just a question to confirm that I understand what J-Spec Tuner was saying. Your post didn't tell me if that is the case, but I'm going to assume that since you didn't flame me terribly that I have an understanding of what needs to be done. Like J-Spec said, "Pretty simple."

do yourself a favor and get an FSM for the KA to see how the transmission harness plugs in to the fuse box, because you obviously have no idea and don't even remember how the damn thing came out. If you haven't pulled the motor out yet, then I would pay real close attention to how you are dismantling the 2 harness.

Like previously stated the 2 harnesses DO NOT plug in to each other! And use the KA transmission harness and KA speed sensor so that you are able to use your speedo.

There done, finito!

i just used the SR harness and matched wire colors. everything works as it should. now if i could just get the damn starter activation wire to stay clipped on i'd be a very happy man :D
