I don't know if anyone is interested but I am gonna do a writeup on.... let me put on the old flame suit.....modifying a ka harness to work with a ca. I found an entire post on how to use a ca18de pulsar harness to do it but I went cheapass. I am going to make it so I have all ca factory colors but I'll writeup on how to just splice the ka at the ca plug and mod connectors. Sounds risque huh. but at an alternative price of 100-400 I'll put my engineering schooling to work.

I'm not really too sure what you are saying. Are you saying you are going to use a KA ecu and harness to work with a CA18 motor? Because the only two sensors/plugs they have in common are the water temp plugs and TPS. Other than that, I have no idea what you could possibly be doing.

Same here, what are you talking about?

What I'm actually winding up doing is fabricating the ca harness from the KA harness using a ca F-Con plug to a ca18det ecu. and most of the plugs will still work( knock sensor get soldered, injectors, z32 maf plug has to be used, tps). but if you were speaking with reference to using the ka harness on the ca ecu or using the ka ecu and harness to run the ca then no both those ideas would be ridiculous unless you were jim wolf himself. So in theory I would have a harness for $25(F-con harness). To further clarify I have to get a harness because I am building the ca project from a longblock.

I guess I am retarded because I still don't understand. Are you basically making a CA harness from scratch? Seems to be a hell of a lot more trouble than it's worth. Especially trying to dig up all the odd plugs that are on the CA harness and not found on the KA or other Nissans.

So why not just find a used CA harness, Ive seen plenty of them go for under 100.00. Its not like the CA to S13 wiring is hard either, it can easily be done in under an hour depending on how much expirience you have. I wired my CA up in my s14 as well, its a little harder than the s13 wiring but not terribly difficult, took a little over 2 hours and Ive never had a problem. In short, I'm just not really understanding the point of this, seems like your just making things alot more complicated than they need to be. Or am I missing somthing?

It's done now all i need is the plug for the cas which I'll get when I pull the pulsar cas. and the z32 maf plug is in the mail. I'll post some pics later. The point is that the harness was free in exception of the $26 for the plug. Just took some doin'. not something i would reccomend for anyone without some time on their hands. That $74 can go towards my Wiseco's.

Hi,

Did you ever make a write up for doing this? I just got ripped off when I bought my engine because they sent me about 6inches of wires coming from my engine instead of the "complete uncut harness". If there is a way to make a ca harness from a ka harness that would be great for me. I have two ka harness' so i can even mess up once.

Thanks

The cost of CA harnesses are going to sky rocket. They are rare and highly sought after. With all the knowledge I've obtained over the years of messing with nissan electronic and electrical systems, and though I can probably put one together, I don't think it's worth the headache like c-rad says. I'd rather buy some sort of standalone to save me all the dramas.

i agree with you dee.if you cant find a ca harness.your better of buying a standalone and going from there.

Sorry, What is a stand alone wire harness? It's hard to google. links would be awesome! Thanks

Where did you buy the ECU plug at? The would make things easier. Thanks
