i've been askin around and seeing what other people have done to mount harness bars and i have seen everything from using the rear seatbelt bolts at an extreme downward angle (can't imagine that being safe) to using the rear strut bar. so ideally wheres the best place? we were thinking putting it right at the back of the seats across to the frame of the body, like below...and welding it.

thanks.

Since I'm assuming your car has no rollcage the item in your picture looks like it will work best for you.

If you do have a rollcage your seat and harness should be fastened to the cage.

IIRC the belt typically has to be 15degrees below shoulders, referenced to the neck-line horizontal. Many SOLO regulations consider mounting to the rear stock seatbelt location OK. What I woudn't reccomend is using a rear C-pillar bar as an attachment point: it's likely to bend or break lose in a severe accident.

iirc = if i remember correctly

seatbelts should be mounted as close to horizontal as possible to avoid spinal compression in a severe crash.

I read Harness with no roll bar is very dangerous when car roll accidently.

it can be since you might not be able to duck and it may crush you. harnesses can also be dangerous if they do not have some mechanism to prevent you from sliding under the lap belt (normal shoulder belts allow you to tilt forward, harnesses don't allow this tilt so you can slide under them). many harneses have the strap that goes between the legs to prevent this.

so that's why 5 point harness is the must. or 6 point.
