Hey guys I have a 91 240sx se with the electronic seatbelts and I want to put in a harness bar. I was wondering If the holes to bolt in the bar were still there just under the plastics since the shoulder belt is on the door with the electric belts. kind of confusing but I hope somebody understands haha. Thanks

I'm assuming you're planning on a running a harness since you want to install a harness bar, so:

Don't run a harness unless you have a cage. If your car rolls, you'll suffer severe spinal compression, and most likely, death.

(there is no structural benefit to running a harness bar, if you're not planning on running a harness)

I am getting a harness bar so I can use harnesses. Im sorry but Im confused are you saying that the harness bar will still cause spinal damage because I thought they were supposed to prevent spinal damage by having the harnesses run at a 90 degree angle from your back? Thanks for the advice so far.

If this car is mostly a street car do you think the harness bar and harnesses will make it safer over the stock seatbelts?

Think about it, even if your in stock belts and the roof caves in for some reason you are gonna get smashed, having harness' doesnt matter in that aspect.

Not true. The oem belts are designed to let you move to the side, in an accident or roll over. Have you ever even put on a 4 or 5 point harness?? You cant even move. Again....what they are designed to do.

Yeah but in crash the seatbelts lock you into position, regardless in a bad rollover without a cage your pretty fugged.

BrianH I love you. No ****.

Regardless of your seatbelt. If you "ROLL OVER" you are most likely to get hurt regardless of your seatbelt/harness. For some reason everyone thinks if you roll over your roof is going to just completely collapse and crumble. Yes, it happens but not EVERYTIME.

Here is the bottom line. If you want to do it, do it. You accept the pros and cons when you buy/install something. Research first.

true...i see a trend of 240s getting:A. nailed head on by careless other drivers, usually drunk.B. "crazy skills drifted" into a curb

this is one of the only "S-chasis" cars ive ever seen rolled... (im sure its not the only one)crash is the black car half way thru... looks brutal, it would crush you w/o a full cage, maybe.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVK9h15opF8

I don't think that's safe brah. You also have to have the harness's at the proper angle. Or it will hurt yo a**

haha wow thanks for unburying this. I orginally posted this because I wanted to make my 91 240sx safer due to their being no air bags and s***ty electric seat belts. I am 6' 2" so there is no way I am using harnesses without a rollbar or cage (too worried about possible spinal compression from poor angles and the threat of having my neck snapped from not being able to move out of the way from a collapsing roof) Then I realized that my car would probably never roll and ended up never getting a rollbar or putting in my harnesses. I have no clue why I ever even considered a harness bar. Fortunately with age I have grown out of the stage where cheaper means better. Its been so long since that post that the s13 is now for sale Dam 240s and the emotional attachment that comes along with them!

other than that video, I have never seen a 240 roll, too low and wide enough stance. lol and we make em lower and wider. I rode in a '64 stang that had 4 points and that was sweet, didn't move an inch. I want a cage but I don't want a bare interior. Most likely going to go for a bolt in, and one that goes around the dash and not through it.lol, although, there's nothing I want more than to destroy my ugly brown dash.
