Has anyone came up with a lightweight Non-Underdriven crankshaft pulley option?

Preferably one made out of 6061 aluminum and has the room for the factory weights to be installed.

I remember a set awhile back, but unless I am mistaken, they were underdriven.

Mainly because the cast craptastic crankshaft pulley just doesn't cut it.

Doesnt cut it for what? Certainly the factory pully has not caused many problems for members on this board? I have never had any issues in 224,000 miles with the pully- what are you trying to solve ?

A solution in search of a problem??????

I don't like flaky brittle things.

Any pressure put on the edges of the crankshaft pulley will result in chips/chipping since they used a casting method for it as opposed to a billet or forged method.

I dropped the 6061 SR20DE pulley I have and it chips away the concrete in the garage.

Drop the VH45DE pulley the same way and you'll be lucky to have anything halfway decent left to use.

My Q has only had the crank pully off 1x in 13 years/224,000 miles- just 2 weeks ago, to replace the oil seal- dont see the reason to handle it enough to cause the concerns you have?

Did you happen to measure the stock balancer weight while it was off?

What is the weight of the 6061 aluminum?

I ask because the less weight that spins the more power you can gain, But it would only be 1-2 HP max I think.

Haven't found anyone with a G50 lightweight/6061 aluminum crankshaft pulley, and the SR20DE one that I have isn't even comparable.

Bu being that the stock G50 pulley is cast, having one made out of 6061 aluminum would definitely be lighter.

Well that would be a huge waste of money, I would not pay any more than $50 shipped for 2-3 HP max.

Then you are dreaming! As historically EACH legal added REAL [accurately measured] HP runs $100 -$150 except for ecu A/F software mods. Something G35 owners are find out now.

Anyway the diameter has more to do than the weight, something as small as the crank pulley radius is minor since it is less than the stroke length [3.256"] vs something large like a flywheel [why the Q unit is so light considering diameter].

"A flywheel is a mechanical device with significant moment of inertia used as a storage device for rotational energy. Flywheels resist changes in their rotational speed, which helps steady the rotation of the shaft when a fluctuating torque is exerted on it by its power source such as a piston-based (reciprocating) engine"

When you have only 4 spurts of torque lasting less than 40% [combined] in an rpm you must be careful to smooth out the other 60% of the rotation time.

This topic has more info on flywheel weight aand any possible gains and losses: zer...re-hp

That helped me out a lot.
