Hey, so I just picked up an 01 LE and want to hardwire my V1 into it.

Usually, I would splice into the sunroof's power wire and ground it up there. But, before I open it up, I was wondering if anyone knows which wire to splice?.

It looks like your best bet would be the red wire (terminal #2 on sunroof switch harness). I would meter the wire before hooking everything up. Tapping this wire will also cause the V1 to utilize the RAP (retained accessory power) feature which means it will stay powered after the vehicle is turned off and the doors remain closed. Once a door is opened the unit should turn off.

For ground, the diagram shows no ground at the sunroof switch but there is one running to the sunroof motor. If you can find a standard black wire then that is your grounding wire.

couldn't you just use the ground from the map light in the same overhead console

Yep. Any black wire up there will work.

I don't understand why you've got a switch for your amp.

Ahh that makes sense. Sounds like it's time for an HU upgrade son.

Mine is an Alpine CDA-9886; 18 Watt rms, 50 Watt peak by four channels, and it sounds great and works very well with stock speakers.

Im using stock speakers they work fine with my indash.

I used to have a switch on the remote but thats because if my parents needed it they could take the sub off without going through the deck, they find it very complicated.

Yeah there commonly LABELLED as 50 X 4, but only put out a true 12-16 watts rms (the only kind of watts that matter) and your speakers can take that just sweet and dandy all day long

In CA it's illegal to have it on but not illegal to have one in possession.

So do they use those radar detector detectors? I know you can buy some radar detectors which are undetectable. I don't know what I would do without my V1, I feel naked when I drive a car without a radar detector.

I haven't used one since high school. When I got pulled over it was when they first came out with laser and the cop said my radar detector was useless because the laser is instantaneous. I usually drive between 75mph-80mph and get a ticket about every 3 years.

its actually harder to spot people always ask me where it is, it way better there then in the middle of your windshield

actually i dont think it is, i think it a seconder offense if the cop was a d!ck he could site me for it i guess but they cant pull me over for it, but they dont really care that you have them. i got pulled over once and the cop came up to my window and asked for my info, i gave it to him and when he was walking away my radar beeped a couple times and when he came back he asked me if i had a radar detector,i said yea and he said it didnt work huh i and i really wanted to say "yea, but i had my 1000 watt stereo canceling out the sound of my radar detector" but the he could of sited my for noise ordinance, i could of gottin away with that ticket if i didnt have a system

Radar detectors are illegal in Ontario 4 sure

i've had 2 taken away from me already and the ticket is $170 and im pretty sure you lose points not sure how many.

They saved me a whole lot when i did have one in my posession. If your considering getting one watch out because the radar detector detector in my last unit found lots of radar detector detectors in Ontario. It used to scare the s*** out of me.

Ya they are illegal up here for sure, I got a $385 ticket for having one in my Crx 2 years ago, but they hit me with over a grand in fines that night.

I have mine in the same spot where the rearview is like the guy that posted the pics does, but Ive got the massive 13" 5% tint strip on my windshield to hide it.

Mines got the VG2 cloak on it so they cant detect it. Im looking into getting a jammer aswell, but there pretty spendy

Ya it was $385, Im lookin at the ticket on my wall of shame lol, cop even took the detector and stomped it infront of me.

Ive got a Cobra XR7 now, 08 model, works flawless, havent gotten a speeding ticket all year, works just fine through the tint

They can tear your car apart looking for drugs, guns, detectors, immigrants etc. Cops can do whatever they please, its just what cop you catch on what day.

2 of my friends run jammers (one porche, one evo) and have never been busted, just conceal it well. Obviously a cop knows a car has a jammer when he throws his gun on you and all he see is , but screw them!!!

I think the jammers are just effective on the highway when there are cars around you. I would probably be worried though that a cop would pull out and follow the cars to try and find the car with the jammer (at least a state trooper in jersey would). I always wanted to get a jammer but they're so damn expensive.

i hardwired my radar detector a little over a year ago because i couldnt stand the wire coming up the dash and then a radar setting right in the middle of the window. i wired it into the map lights. i got the wiring wrong the first time bc its def. not domestic wiring..the colors werent what i expected so after i burned up one radar, i got a new one and love it. most people dont even know i have it until it goes off.

Thats exactly how it should be concealed until used
