On the way to the airport, I had to transfer some funds and saw a group of empty spaces right in front. I pulled in and saw these signs. Apparently at my bank, you have 3 spaces for handicapped drivers (def a great idea), and now 3 more for eco drivers. What's next? Spaces for convertibles? What does MPG have to do with banking? Eco drivers are already rewarded with lower fuel costs. Just a side note: in the space marked "reserved" was a Ford Excursion with a 6.7L power stroke, black soot-spewing, engine.

I'm guessing the Excursion owner interpreted that his vehicle was more fuel efficient than a Hummer H1 or longnose twin screw Peterbuilt with a gigantic sleeper. I'm also guessing the nitwit... er....person who came up with the idea for special fuel efficient car parking spots was a prius owner. I can almost see special parking for plug in electric only vehicles because of the receptacles, but not for anything powered by fossil fuel. And to put them closer than handicapped spots is stupid.

i get why they would do such a thing, still dumb though. it's a poorly written sign. they're trying to lessen the exhaust right at the entrance that affects everyone walking in and out of the building, as well as enters the lobby every time a door is opened. i never understood why so many people park somewhere, go inside for 10 minutes, all the while their vehicle is siting there running.

What do you think will happen if a VW diesel parks in one of those spots?

Leaving your car running is illegal here, is that not the case in other states?

I'd expect no less from the mouthbreathing cretins that run B of A.

Link the branch manager to this thread, and then switch to a credit union. :)

Leaving your car running isn't illegal around here, though it all but guarantees your car will get stolen if you ain't in it. There are some "no idle" zones around, a by-product of previous Earth Days and 9/11. But around here, no idle zones are commonly located near schools, airports, train stations, government buildings, or highway rest-stops.
