92 240sx. Has a stock KA24DE engine. Turn the key to start, turns over, starts to start, then after a second, stops running. This happens 10 to 15 times. Then will start. But runs like crap till it warms up. What do I need to look at. Don't say, a new car.

Welcome to NICO.
You need a new engine.

Only kidding. You'll have to do some more diagnosing. Look into doing a simple tune up- fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor, new air filter, clean the throttle body, clean (or replace) and reset the Idle Air Control Valve, and considering Seafoaming the car, etc.
Here is a link for how to use Seafoam: how-to-seafoam-your-engine-the-right-wa ... 26583.html
If none of that works, you should look into electrical problems and trace continuity and test voltage at the coils, plugs, fuel pump, MAF, etc.

Report back on your findings and many others will be able to help you out! Include more specifics like mileage, how long you've had the car, do you daily drive it, etc.

As always, read and research!! Many similar problems have already been answered on this forum if you take the time to look for a solution. You'll likely solve your problem faster by tracing someone elses steps and then posting about your results so we can help you rule something out or provide ideas more quickly in order to get you back on the road!

Bought a new MAF. Starts up,. Runs like it did before. About 80% of what the old engine did. But it drives. I'm going to get new fuel injectors soon. Might help with the performance.

It sounds as if the car needs a tune up.
