I've been searching the truck forum as well as just googling around for a while but I haven't really come up with anything here. I've been toying with the idea of autocrossin' for a while now and was wondering what the capabilities are for the hardbodies.

Are there any other Nissan's they share parts with? I'm looking at a 2WD short bed single cab. I know drive train wise they share engine and transmission with the 240. I also know that there a 6 bolt (well...the one I'm looking at anyway). Are there 5 bolt trucks(or cars) I can swap hubs with??

As far as suspension goes I'm not really looking to drop the truck...if anything maybe an inch max. I just want some good coilovers.

Any info would be great!!

Thanks guys!!

Q1) I've been searching the truck forum as well as just googling around for a while but I haven't really come up with anything here. I've been toying with the idea of autocrossin' for a while now and was wondering what the capabilities are for the hardbodies.A1) The short wheel base of the reg cab is ideal for your purposes. The suspension stuff is very limited (either raising or lowering). The torsion bars are the big hurdle in this regard.

Q2) Are there any other Nissan's they share parts with? I'm looking at a 2WD short bed single cab. I know drive train wise they share engine and transmission with the 240. A2) Aside from drive train, engine accessories and electrical there isn't much that is interchangable. Maybe some of the interior...seats, shifter mechanism.

Q3)I also know that there a 6 bolt (well...the one I'm looking at anyway). Are there 5 bolt trucks(or cars) I can swap hubs with??Q3) NO. Try a hub adapter if you want 5 stud wheels.

Q4) As far as suspension goes I'm not really looking to drop the truck...if anything maybe an inch max. I just want some good coilovers.A4) Coil overs should NOT be used in conjunciton with leaf springs. They increase the suspenion rate to a point where an unloaded pickup feels like it has no suspension at all. Basically it would ride so rough your teeth would rattle over every bump. IF you plan on doing something like a 3 or 4 link suspension system, then coil overs are a GOOD thing. But you can also use air bags paired with normal shocks

PS: What is your definition of AutoCrossing anyway?

Sorry for the unorganized post.

After re-reading it, I feel ashamed.

Alright, I'd like to buy a car to possibly run in solo/solo II events eventually. I'm toying with many different idea's including a Maxima, Sentra, and possibly an Audi. I don't know if I'll be good enough to win, but at this point I'm not concerned with winning. I just want to do it because its what I want to do.

I talked to my brother the other day and he has a friend who's parents own a body shop. They have a couple parts trucks including this hardbody they are thinking about getting rid of pretty cheap just because they don't use it much. When he told me about it I immediately thought this may be just as good as any car although I don't think the Hardbody can even be run in solo/soloII and that is something I have to figure out for sure before I do anything anyway.

Thanks for your VERY organized response!!! To be honest I don't know much about these trucks and you've helped alot!!

this thread should give you some ideas on the coilovers available for your pickup.
