My first vehicle is my dads 1997 Nissan hardbody, he bought it used way back when i was little, and its now become my vehicle now that i'm 16, within the past two years the bed has begun to rust and after this winter, the right rear wheel well is beginning to show rust, i'm curious if there are ways other than replacing the entire box, or cutting our rusted chunks and re-welding in new pieces, if there is a way to kill the rust and prevent its spread, and then repaint he wheel well with some touch up paint, and then apply a spray in bed liner to the truck bed.
I have heard of POR 15 and have heard mixed reviews, any help or insight would be amazing! Ill add some photo's soon.

Thanks!

I like POR 15. Sadly the only way to kill rust is to cut it out. If you don't plan to make some patches your box is going to look funny with missing pieces. The other option is a used bed which is not a bad deal if you can find a decent one. I just sold one off my parts truck for $200 so there are deals to be had.

What about sandpaper, elbow grease, rust reformer, and primer?

It's a 2 part epoxy, really tough but takes a while for it to cure.

It cost me around $160 CAD for one gallon of hardener and one gallon of the second part. It'll completely seal out moisture since it's epoxy based.

When you use it, make sure that you thoroughly mix it and paint it when it's warm outside, it's kind of like spreading glue lol.

Also, they use it on boat hulls.
