Hey all! If you run a set of OEM 15x7 alloy "Robot" "Lego" "Robo" (whatever you want to call them) wheels on your HB, you have probably experienced the same issues with the centercaps fitting loose, rattling, or in my case flying off going down the road. These caps are getting pricey ($50 on ebay!) and rarer by the day to find one without any broken tabs. While I haven't quite figured out a permanent fix for broken tabs, I did come up with a fix to help keep the good caps from ejecting into the Kia Soul in the next lane.

So for this you'll need some 1/4" heatshrink tubing, you can get this online or at most hardware stores, you'll also need a lighter/heat gun and a pair of scissors. Thats it!

The tabs before, notice the gray, almost shiny wear marks where the cap has rattled against the wheel.

Slip a heatshrink tube over each side of the tab, and cut them to length with the scissors

Use your lighter or heat gun to head up the heatshrink and shrink it to the tabs. Be careful not to get it too hot and melt your tabs or the heatshrink! It should look something like this.

Rinse and repeat for the other tabs on the cap! It took me about 30 minutes and 4 "tubes" of heatshrink to do all 4 centercaps. Now when you pop the caps on they should fit MUCH more snugly and not rattle!

As long as you don't melt the caps or heatshrink, this fix is completely reversable, just use a razor blade to carefully cut off the heatshrink and they are back to factory.

I also want to drop a tip for those of us with manual locking front hubs who want to run the factory centercaps. Since the caps are sized for the smaller automatic locking hubs, use a 3.5" (or 89mm) holesaw to bore out the center hole so the caps can fit over the larger hubs. Theres a sort of lip that the saw will fit around and help keep it centered, almost like the engineers meant for you to be able to do this! Thanks Nissan!

Stock centerhole, you can see the lip around the hole that I was talking about.

Finished product! Should slip right on!

Good luck everyone! If anyone has any good permanent solutions for broken tab repair I'd love to hear it! I have a couple spare caps missing some tabs and I'd love to turn them into usable spares!
