Looks nice Dan. I think if you tucked the wire in somewhere it would look even cleaner Good stuff. Maybe you should share how you did it

looks good. Are you not worried about theft though? I had my tomtom hard wired and i forgot to pull it out and they stole it and the hard wire kit. Messed up the car pretty bad.

The GPS comes off the dock. I only put it in when I need to, otherwise its home.

I was thinking of hard-wiring my radar detector. It sits right in the center of the windshield down low, so I was thinking of running a wire out the rear seam where the piece on the dash sits above the radio (the flat piece with the two vents that point at your face/head). I wonder if I should drill a hole or if a small flat wire would actually fit through the seam. After seeing your install, I almost want to mount it on the left side now.

Can you take a clearer picture of the fuse box. Did you splice that wire into that fuse. Does anyone have a link to site where I can get that piece so I can see a clear picture of it.

That appears to have an inline fuse already. You will want to buy a thing called an "add a fuse mini" and you can stick a 2A or 5A fuse in there.

And here are the pix of my Radar...

That thing there isnt a fuse, it's a thing that sets the wire to trickle mode once the gps is fully charged. So i get that add a fuse thing and connect to that red and black wire. is that correct

Here is a better look at the item. Can this be connected to add-a-fuse

Yes, the red is positive (the end you hook to the add a fuse) and the black is the ground.

Last question. The wire you guys tapped into the add-a-fuse. Is that the stock wire that came with the gps or radar unit you have. If so, i'll just cut the car charger that came with the gps and use that attached to the add-a-fuse. Is that possible?

No the way i wired my GPS was so i could easily remove it. I bought a little 12V socket thing (the one you plug your cellphone car charger into) and it just has a + and a ground so when ever i want to i can take out and move it to a friends car ect.... But I wouldn't cut the charger because it wouldn't have an inline fuse and it could short out and buhby GPS.

i notice the add-a-fuse has 2 fuse slots, do you connect it to an existing fuse slot then put 2 fuses in there or is there an empty fuse slot in the fuse box slot to connect it to that can power it.

Thanks

You take the fuse out of the fuse box and plug it in to the first one (closest to the fuse box) then the second one is for what your going to power.

I used the one for the 12Vlt power socket. Only because it turns on when the key is in and off when the key isnt.

If you look at the fuse box there are 2 screws that are right in the front then there is one recessed behind the front panel on the bottom left, thats a good ground.
